Now that lacrosse season is over, shall we discuss conference favorites and BCS implications? Who do you like?

I def. like Texas in the Big 12. They have a weak schedule and could easy go undefeated into a bowl game. They return all their WRs, their QB, and RB...the o-line took a hit though. As long as they fixed the secondary, they will cruise.

I wouldn't worry too much about the o-line, they always seem to find a way to throw out 5 guys who are all 6'4", 320 lbs.

I will be eager to see how well Ohio State re-loads since they lost a lot.

My "sleeper" Big Ten team is Wisconsin ("Big Ten sleeper" being defined as a team not named Michigan or Ohio State). Tyler Donovan torched Iowa last year when he replaced John Stocco as QB for a game and seems to be a decent QB who can buy some time with his feet. I am also a fan of P.J. Hill, just a bruiser.

USC should be very good as usual. I am also eager to see how well Notre Dame will be since they lost basically their main players on offense and see if this Jimmy Clausen kid will be the next Ron Powlus.

I do want to watch Arkansas, their offense is a lot of fun between McFadden and Jones and their random sets where people are not lined up where they should normally be.

Yes, I am excited for college football. One of my favorite things in life, those 12-13 Saturdays in the fall.

The ACC looks wide open.

The SEC is in favor of Arkansas since UF lost their defense, but Auburn's recruiting is always top-notch.

Texas shouldn't lose the Big 12...but we'll see.

Wisconsin SHOULD win the Big 11 this year.

Big Easy(t) = WVU...but Rutgers got a major recruiting bump, and most of the team is returning. If Rutgers' LB's can learn to stop the run they'll be set.

And you got rid (technically he graduated) of Cupito. You guys could have been real good in the past couple years with all those running backs if you had any form of a passing game.

I will also miss the yearly choke job Mason was good for that usually made you laugh (i.e. the Wisconsin game from 2005).

I don't know what to think of you guys next year, don't know much about Brewster. From what I have read recruiting wise while following Iowa, he seems to be a decent recruiter. I also like Pinnix.

If Im not mistaken, he has done a great job recruiting and getting the instate talent to stay here, but has also picked up lots of guys from Chicago. I just hope that this year we don't make a habit of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

It's going to take a few seasons for Gopher football to get back on track.

I like the sleeper pick of the Badgers. We lose Stocco, but T. Donovan really could have been starting over him these last few years. We lose Joe Thomas, that one hurts. We get a RB commitment (Clay) who is predicted to take the starting job from our Big Ten rookie RB of the year. We don't really lose anyone else, but Coach Bielema has had another year to figure things out. I like the Badgers this year.

The big question in the Big Ten will be Illinois. How long will it take for these bluechip recruits to be successful on the field?

Who'd he get of note from Chicago?? With Zook cultivating the CPL and the traditional success of Michigan, ND and Iowa picking over the rest of that crop, I don't see much chance for Brewster to make any serious runs at the better players, but time will tell.

Why should Boise schedule anyone even remotely talented when they can play Rhode Island School of Design follwed by San Marcos School for the Blind....then get to play a mediocre-at-best team in a BCS game? They shouldnt. In fact, with such a gimme-schedule...why even have a season honestly? They should just hang out, not have the injuries that occur when you play decent teams week-in and week-out (see: Auburn, UGA) and when January rolls around show up and play a team that has been decimated by injuries from playing teams that actually play college football.

I'm going to guess that the D-1 football program coaches don't all meet in May, 3 months before the season and discuss the schedules. Given that, then it's not likely you'll see the scheduling as a result of BSU's win until next year. Teams schedule games well in advance, and BSU's schedule this year is based on their "unknown-ness" in previous years. According to this article (http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug ... &type=lgns) Tennesee is all set til 2012. I doubt they're the only one. We'll just have to wait see and what BSU does this year... they'll likely remain a until January. That is, unless the San Marcos School for the Blind stages an upset

The conventional wisdom says it will take another year, since the real impact players (Martez Wilson, LB and Arrelious Benn, WR) are true freshmen, and no matter how good they were in HS and will be in D1, they're gonna get rocked some. I'd have to agree. The Illini defense returns a very tough, and still very underrated unit, however, so any offense at all will put them in the middle of the conference and an overall record of .500 or a little better. Going on the road to face a good Missouri team first game out of the gate is going to be very telling.

The young QB, Juice Williams, is elusive, quick and fast, and likely has the strongest arm in the B10. Problem is, his accuracy issues are very real, and his success will be directly correlative to the play of the O-line which, frankly, is very suspect AFAIK.

Boise should IMHO join the Pac 10, that would be such a huge jump in recruiting.
