Tracking our Nationals teams
Hey this is to keep everybody updated on our PNCLL representation without going to the Championship Chat forum. Keep your updates coming, and if anyone from our teams in Dallas or people watching the games themselves, want to give a recap of any games then post it up here. Good Luck UO, WWU, and Montana, and good job so far today U of O!

Just a few thoughts from yesterday... it seemed that both WWU and Oregon came out a bit nervous. It took a while for the Ducks to get one of their scoring bursts, but when it came I was sure that there was no looking back. They controlled much of the game (from what I saw) and if they keep clicking it should be a good run for them. WWU on the other hand never really got in the game. Their first goal was on a busted clear and that got them a little momentum, but it quickly faded. Their defense played way too soft early on and allowed Harding to stay in the game when they really shouldn't have. Honestly, I was expecting a lot more out of them. After about ten minutes everybody on their team looked exhausted from the heat and they never got into that aggressive style that so suits them. They just sat back and let Harding pick them apart. At least two of Harding's goals came from Noah just dropping the ball on attempted clears and then dumping it into the empty net... overall not a great game to watch.
Good luck to the Ducks today and my Griz hope to represent well.

Hey I just read on Grizlax.com that Montana beat Northern Colorado 13-8.
They said "Goalie Colin Connery played extremely well and attackman Zander Ault had 6 goals." They also said that pictures would be up later tonight on their websight. Nice work boys keep it up.

Sonny's right about checking the live score updates, we hope that those of you who couldn't make it down do check those because it's a great feature... however, www.grizlax.com is still the best place for complete Montana Griz Lacrosse coverage (even if Sonny stole away our webmaster for the week).
Thoughts from today... didn't see the game, but it sounds like WWU played up to their potential this morning. In the Duck/UMD game, UMD didn't go away. Every time it looked like the Ducks were going to go on a run UMD was there, real scrappy effort from what I saw (which wasn't too much). As for the Griz, pretty solid game today and we hope to continue Friday.

good job to all of our teams down south. i am really impressed with the performance by WWU today, as a person who played them earlier in the season i know that U.C. Irvine is a solid team. I am really glad to see that WWU played for pride and didn't succumb to the whole "we aren't going to win it all so we aren't going to try at all" attitude. I'm also glad they had a big game today because they ruined my bracket with the loss yesterday and the win today makes up for it in my heart!!! (kidding WWU i know you guys gave it your all...... but really though.... you messed up my bracket....) Montana and UO i am proud of you guys too, but i expected these W's from both clubs. Get it done in teh next round boys! Hi-line thanks for the coverage of the games too.

Irvine is a solid team.
Irvine had 15 guys in Texas and left the tournament one day early (forfeiting their final consolation game). They clearly didn't show very much desire to be here.....
I wouldn't put any stock in a consolation victory by WWU over Irvine.

That seems pretty weak to me. If I was on any team at nationals, you would have to put me in restraints and drag me out of Texas if the team wanted to leave early. So many teams want to go to Nationals, only a handful ever get to. That is upsetting news that there is a forfeiture on our highest stage. I feel bad for any team who was supposed to get a consolation match but won't get to (after making the monetary, social, and academic sacrifices just to be down there).

i completely agree, and i still think that a win is a win and if U.C. Irvine had no desire to be there then they should have left before the game even happened. I will still say that WWU is a better team if it comes down to a spot in the polls next season. U.C. Irvine had a chance to prove that yesterday and they didn't.

The only reason UC irvine was even at nationals, was because they won a weak WCLL conference. I think the beat down WWU gave them shows that they are not an "elite" team.

I worked all three WWU games and thought they were an up and down team.
They did not look good in their first game, although others who knew the team better than I did said that was not their norm.
They looked very sharp against UCI, although UCI did not play well at all either (showed up to the field about 15-20 minutes before the game).
In today's game against Southwestern, they had multiple players out of position and went down 6-2 or 5-2. They apparently did not like this and put their normal goalie back in net and took the second half a lot more seriously and pulled out the victory.
Both the goalie and Andy Murray impressed me the most.
They are a good team, but from what I have seen this week from the B teams, not quite among the elite, but still a very good B team.

In the Irvine game, I saw Noah (starting goalie) in at close-d, and he scored a goal at attack, I wouldn't read into the game much...

And Montana pulls off a 19-18 nail biter. Sounds like Westminster got off a legit shot with about 19 seconds to go, recovered it, but wasn't able to put away the equalizer. Would have LOVED to have been at that game. Lets hope Oregon can pull it off tonight and get two PNCLL teams in national title games!
