very funny, but it was a good effort, and they can come back next year and hope to improve and win this thing. A valiant effort after a terrible start against one of the best offenses in the country shutting them out for most of the second half.

THANK YOU! I have never heard so many people give so much credit for 3 losses!
you my friend need to get rid of your vendetta against them, have you even seen them...i think if you were ACTUALLY IN DALLAS you might be surprised...funny everyone that rips UMD hasnt been to a game this year and actually watched them...ask Noma or Oregon, BYU or CSU, heck even UTAH if they think they are good...posters like yourself with a vendetta is exactly what is wrong with this message board, you my friend have nothing better to do than come on here and put teams down, and boost your team up...get over it...they are there, they beat Noma, they played Oregon tough, but lost...why dont you jump on someone elses bashing bandwagon, or do you think simply because they are from MN, they cant play...I guess they proved that theory wrong...Im sorry...I think Noma and Coach Carl's program would take offense to you ripping them on here as well - figure it out my friend, grow up, and quit being jealous for whatever reason....let them enjoy the year they had , they deserve their praise

They are good, they are a top 10 team, they do deserve praise. This is the first year they were truly competitive on a national level. Kids from MN CAN PLAY, and they are proving it all around the country. I have never said anything different. I just don't agree with how high they are ranked. I am curious who they are going to schedule next year?
And have you seen Sonoma the past 8 odd years? Tell me the last time they went 10-7 Losing to #1,2,3,6,8,14, and 16! With there BEST WIN OVER #19 SELC VT! NEVER! If coach Carl is happy with that season from a program as established as Sonoma, wow, they sure had my fooled the past 8 years. I hope they can get back to their old wining ways.

The last time Sonoma went 10-7 was 2007. Passing of the tourch is tough isn't it.
Go UMD, Go Northeastern, Go BC!

It is tough for some, not for me. I enjoy seeing new teams rise. All three of the teams you just named in the second round was GREAT for the league, proving that other parts of the country have a high level of club lacrosse outside the West.
I just want to see you guys (UMD) beat a big name team, and it will happen pretty soon here. When that happens and you continue to beat the teams your "supposed to", Anyone who argues that UMD is not a top 2-3-4 team, is just flat out wrong.
Next,
I am NOT a huge Sonoma fan. I just really respect teams that have dominated for an extended period of time at the national level. BYU, CSU, and SSU are three schools that have been atop the USLIA/MCLA year in, and year out since its beginning. I think that is amazing.

That's what I was thinking. SB has made the semifinals the last 7 years in a row. Doesn't that qualify them as a top team?

Correct...UCSB. I didn't know they had done that. I didn't do my homework. Sorry

if it takes "homework" to realize UCSB is one of the top 3 programs in this league you shouldn't be commenting on a lot of the stuff you have been.

Yet, you don't see SB faithful or players have to come on these message boards to tell people how good they were/are/could be. They prove it on the field. Perhaps that is the reason why there is some negativity towards lesser known teams who claim they deserve respect? I think it is great that teams from leagues outside the WCLL, SELC, and RMLC performed well at Nationals, but I think they could benefit from not spouting off how great they are when they have yet to make it past the second round. Just a "realistic observation."

I was refering to overall program year in and out.
UCSB
99' 7-5
00' 11-6
01' 12-7
I FEEL that these years SSU, BYU, and CSU where the class of the field (along with SF and Cal mixed in there), and UCSB was in the next tier. SB always plays those teams tough. The worst they were beaten was by BYU by 7 in 01.
I did not know that SB was in the semi's the LAST SEVEN YEARS! thats where I didn't do my homework. I was concentrating on overall record. I know, you need to get it done when it counts, and SB tends to do that (#10 seed anyone!). That is where my argument was coming from.

What about Michigan? I think most people agree they were overrated this year and they are a perennial force. Should they be kept up there just because of their past? Its awfully hard for new teams to climb the ladder if the old guys are sitting up there for no reason.

On the other hand, I believe in 2001, as the #9 seed, they beat #1 Michigan in the tournament to get to the semis.

I think we are seeing a SB faithful on the message board right now? (see above quote)
I think lesser known teams come on here for that exact reason. They are lesser known, so it is assumed they are not worthy of the ranking they get, if that ranking is in the top 5-10. God forbid a team gets in the top 5-10 and makes a run at BYU, CSU, UCSB, Mich, SSU. And when they make that run, it is chaulked up to a down year, overrated, or "lucky".
