And so the madness has begun........

The 2013 tournament returns to Greenville, SC this May.

And so the madness has begun........

Northeastern as suspected. Did not suspect a score like that though....WOW, nicely done. They really are that good this year.

The first bit of TROUBLE (BIG TROUBLE?) as predicted versus Oregon.

BC, Minnesota-Duluth, and A&M next in the line for trouble...

i'm actually impressed by the Oregon/LU result. After so many were saying how LU was too high in the polls, it looks like they showed up and made it a game

Oregon needs to get their defense turned around or it can spell trouble later in the tourney for them.

Oh god, here it comes now from the GRLC apologists......

Who said they were too high in the polls? They won their conference and were still seeded #14, that is not TOO good. And if showing up means not scoring for 20 minutes with the game, and their season, in the balance.........then yeah, they showed up.

Don't let the final score fool you. Oregon controlled and dominated that game from the middle of the third, until the last minute.

Lindenwood should be commended for not getting blown out (ie Michigan), but not complemented for losing not as bad as "so many" thought.

"Many" also said they would win. They did after all beat Oregon last year...

Either Northeastern was wayyyy underrated or Michigan was wayyyy overrated. I will say this though dtrain, if BC is in trouble then Arizona must be MUCH better then Michigan because BC beat Northeastern twice this year.

was just commenting on how there was an earlier debate that A/M and Florida should be ranked higher than them....no need to get your panties in a bunch

did I read correctly that the top goalscorer for Northeastern had 2? They did a pretty good job of spreading things out.

A&M definitely not. Florida perhaps.....

Nothing against you personally scooter. It is nice of you to say such a thing about them. But after everything that has been said for a week and a half leading up to these games, if we have to go through another year of how "good" they played and how "close" their opening round loses were once again......

Northeastern should be the talk of our little world here. Not some team that lost, in a game that became conceivably more one-sided then was reflected in the final score.

Northeastern stepped up BIG time and deserve a ton of congratulations and respect.

DTrain - having not been vocal on the site for most of the season. I think very few except Lindenwood faithful predicted an upset in that game. I don't know where you are getting your info. Oregon is the real deal this year, Lindenwood hung and played as expected consdering a #14 v #3

Man do I hope you eat your words later today and the WCLL struggle. Although I don't see Georgia having a chance I will certainly be cheering them on.

The Elitist, I am smarter, funnier, and live in a sunnier climate routine is getting old quick, you used to actually be witty back in your heavy post days. But now all I hear is 6th grade bashing, with a geeks vocabulary.

There is a lot more parity at the top than there was when either u or i played, as I believe, I hope I'm right.

I think Georgia has a chance today. And I think most will be surpised to see that its going to be a really close game.

Sunnier climate? That's like throwing out "I love lamp." How does that relate to being smarter or funnier?

You may be right. UCSB is a little banged up on defense right now, but I think they will pull through.

You are ABSOLUTELY right that Oregon is the real deal. Make no mistake, Oregon has a very, very good chance of taking the whole thing. What do you mean as expected in a #14 v. #3? A thirteen just killed a four. We have defeats (not of that extreme) happen regularly every year now.

And I still have that wit, don't worry about it, even with my geek vocabulary.

I wish there was more parity, the sport would be a HUNDRED times better for it if it was. What is getting old my friend, is in the "old days" when you and I played, programs built up and earned their respect. No one would say anything until they showed what they could do, and the "elitist" teams would tip their hat and openly welcome them to the party.

Similar to the way that Northeastern just did today, and because of it, from now on. Similar to the way that the Florida schools started to do 5 years or so ago. What is getting old are teams constantly talking about the lack of due respect that they deserve and every year talking about what they are going to do, and then falling short.

Northeastern made me eat my words. I said that it wouldn't surprise me at all if they won, cause after seeing them play, I thought that they were very good. But I still thought Michigan would win. Because they have been there for a while, because they have a great coach, etc...

Northeastern is what is right about the game and the sport. Going to the dance several times and improving. The surrounding talent around a great player consistently getting better each year. And then taking down one of the great programs.

When I was at SB we had to do this, (as I said) the Florida schools did this, Oregon did it this way.....

Very happy to eat my words when it is a team like Northeastern.

Not the other teams though, they are still in trouble friend. What you had better be hoping for is that the #6 team "as expected" beats the "inferior," sunny-climate Sonoma State....we shall see...

While I do agree the self promotion has become sickening by many teams, it does seem to hold sway with voters and the jockeying for position. It wasn't how things were done, and I wish it still wasn't. But then our squad knew we weren't as talented; but hard play, big hits, and GB's gave us a chance to win. Let our game talk. Somehow that isn't the case, we liked being the underdog.

NE didn't talk much and I do respect that, but I don't think BC or UMD did too much either. I think UMD just had a couple of unaffiliated folks championing their cause. Hopefully the games today will show this to be true.

Not every year. They did make it to the semifinals in 2005, nearly knocking off UCSB in the process. They are one of only a handful of teams who have ever made the semifinals.
