I find it interesting that BYU is ranked #1 most of the season, goes undefeated in RMLC play, beats CSU twice; and CSU gets the Offensive MVP, Defensive MVP, Coach of the Year, and has more players selected to the 1st team all conference team. Tough crowd.

Perhaps one could also interpret that as CSU having the "better" player in that category - but apparently the BYU system works better as a whole.... at least when you break down the stats.
Just my thoughts... besides... you know BYU loves this underappreciation talk because it gives the players more motivation. Teams are always harder to beat when they "have something to prove"....ugh, scary thought.

seems like having two all conference teams plus honorable mentions, basically guarantees an award if you play in the RMLC A division.

tell that to Utah State... They're still in the RMLC Div A right? I dont see any USU players. But i do see your point. Maybe they shouldn't give out so many honorable mentions and just use those if there is a player who just barely missed 2nd team... But even if they do recognize the top 9 players at each position... who cares... more recognition doesn't hurt anybody... if anything it stops stupid arguments for why so and so wasn't mentioned for an award.

Seems like any coach anywhere would love to have any of these players from both teams starting on their teams and many will be up for All American honors as well. Come watch them in the Nationals and you might see things differently.

In my experience, the honorable mention category is comprised of all players that have been nominated, but not selected for the 1st and second team. My question is, did USU even nominate anyone?

Did you bother to check to see who was Coach of the Year in 2006 when CSU was the RMLC and National champion? Yep Jason Lamb from BYU. It might be that last year CSU was stacked with talent and BYU was playing with some of their best MIA due to their missions and he was voted this honor because of what he did with the loss of some excellent players. CSU lost a four year Goalie captain, a four year AA defenseman captain and their most energetic player also a captain. In other words they lost a huge chunk of their leadership on the field. Then their first game out they suffered their worst loss since they've played Flip ball. Yet he and his coaches were able to circle the wagons and with the exception of BYU win the rest of their games. I believe some people call it rebuilding on the fly. Coach Lamb by his own admissions on the other hand lost very little and had some of their best players returned from missions and if you've watched them you can't help but notice they have a remarkable freshman group (Grow, Heir etc.) and one could think with all that talent they better win.

Wait...doesn't CSU have the Offensive and Defensive MVP plus the top goalie in the league? I think they are just fine with talent. Jason did more with less last year. I'm not ripping Flip, he's a great coach. Just found it interesting that BYU got blanked on those three awards.
