I am having to define a lot of things here, we call this being "unselfish." Being unselfish is good in many aspects of life.

Look, you are making this into more than it should be. But what are you defending? It has to be the coaches. It has to be. Who would you say it is, the players? I don't believe that to be true, there are enough good athletes every where in this country. If kids put in the time, and are guided the right way, they will improve enough in college to make a difference.

All of these lacrosse programs have been around long enough now to develop their own talent. SO at this point, these programs should be a lot more equal.

And because someone is a good player, doesn't make them a good coach. Magic Johnson, the 2nd best player of his generation, great businessman and a horrible coach. I didn't ask for his playing credentials....I know they are good at playing the game. They need to start making others good at playing this "unselfish" game.

Oh, and before I forget:

US4L, It's a movement...well it was anyways

It's nice this time of year here, if you would like to come have a few laughs, by all means.

Perhaps while here we could go to a coaching seminar...or anger managment. Actually, maybe we shoud go to a 2nd grade english class and learn about the big words "coaching," "unselfish," "nomenclature"...

Everyone obviously need you to spell it out , I just want to make sure you are saying that the talent level at some of these programs has increased, but the results havent? I'm just trying to clarify your points, as your "wit" has obviously been exposed to the sun for WAY to long....

I think this is a ploy to get hired....its sounds as if someone is bitter they arent coaching anymore....

Computer's Picks

Postby Dan Wishengrad on Wed May 09, 2007 1:37 pm

Back on point...

Laxpower computer picks the first round:

BYU (84.9) by 10 over Texas A&M (75.4)

Arizona (80.3) by 2 over BC (78.6)

Michigan (81.4) by 1 over Northeastern (80.5)

UCSB (79.8) by 2 over Georgia (78.0)

Colorado State (83.5) by 8 over Florida (75.4)

Colorado (79.9) by 1 over Arizona State (79.0)

Oregon (84.3) by 8 over Lindenwood (76.6)

UMD (81.9) by 3 over Sonoma State (79.3)

If the computer proves to be accurate (as always a very big "IF" ), five of the eight first round games will be very close contests. The biggest surprise probably is that the two games that are picked as essential toss-ups are the 7/10 and 4/13 match-ups.

My disclaimer, again, for those who may be readying a knee-jerk reaction -- These are not my picks. I do not post them here as "gospel" of what will transpire. It is simply interesting to see what a non-biased handicapper of the MCLA tourney field picks for the eight first-round games. If you don't like it, don't "buy it".

What are you even arguing? Of course the players make a difference, the coaches are there and some of them are arguably just as good if not better than coaches in the WCLL/RMLC.

Almost all of the UMLL teams are comprised entirely of Minnesotan players, of which Minnesota is just starting to get a good high school base now.

"I just want to make sure you are saying that the talent level at some of these programs has increased, but the results havent?"
Mr. Jefferson, I didn't say anything even close to any of this....you ask Weezy, "what talent level?" I am assuming you are trying to paraphrase when I mentioned about there being good athletes all over the country.
I'm just trying to clarify your response....What?

You should be the Hammer my friend, because that's me to a T....a bitter, bitter human being. The thing I am most upset about (actually I am not upset at all, I thank you for I am enjoying a laugh), you think this is my scheme to get hired? WOW, that would go down as the worst application ever. That would be like saying yourmom is using these message boards to try and get a book deaL. I unfortunately now have a horrible 12-hour a day type of job (insert your obligatory joke here) and won't be available to help the cheeldron anymore.

But I am sure that you figured out the real truth already, that is what I am just telling people. The truth is, I got out of coaching just so I could post on these forums.

"I think a good coach should be professional..." M&M, Try to write something that is of your own accord, and not just plagiarize something hanging from the Vince Lombardi speech that adorns the wall of your room at your Grandmother Margaret's house.

I'm glad someone understands my sense of sarcasm....if only those close to me could have your same sense of humor, then I probaly wouldnt be on the couch so much....Weezy is a pain, I wish she would get off my back...

I love when old people act ignorant and then try to cover it up by acting like they are still funny and cool.

Please log off collegelax and go finish your TPS report your boss has been sending you memos about. You obviously have been away from the lacrosse culture for far to long and have lost touch with the spirit of the game. (there is your joke you asked for.)

Oh and thank you. As a soon to be graduate you have just helped me decide how not to continue on my career path. Besides I have that book deal coming up right!?

Like I said earlier my thoughts are my own. Geesh now I can't have a little fun on the boards? By the way my Grandmother's name is Patricia and she hates Vince Lombardy. And your use of anthropomorphism when talking about Lindenwood amuses me :D

Hey D-Train,

If I'm not mistaken, weren't you an assistant coach on a team that beat the two-time defending national champions, UCSB Gauchos on two different occassions last year? Seems like you'd need to be a pretty knowledgable coach to pull that off.

Wow...I hope that this proves to everyone why you need to keep up an active pay-roll. If you are referring to the UCSD team that handed UCSB their only home play-off lost in the 50 year history of the program....I'm sorry I don't know what you are talking about. (By the way, the little bit of ability that I might have had was well established on these boards years ago. But the fact is I'm done, so let's get back to the more pressing issues at hand).

'MM9 wrote, "I think a good coach should be professional..." I then in a post reference him as M&M (I hope not too far of a stretch on his name) and make a joke about him being a Grandma's Boy of sorts.

yourmom, then proceeds to respond to this comment for some reason, with a comment about his own grandmother, Patricia. Yourmom, to answer yourquestion, no you can't have any fun on these boards. You also can't have the intelligence to respond to your own moniker (something that KoKo the Monkey can do), and you can't look up the biggest word under A in the dictionary and THEN USE IT INCORRECTLY. For the love of GOD, what are they doing out there? Anthropomorphism is when you give human characteristics to non-human, inanimate objects. Like when you talk about how your lacrosse stick still loves you and is the only friend that hasn't left you yet.

'Trouble' is a noun that refers to causing a moment of distress or disorder. Lindenwood Lacrosse, along with a few others, are going to be in BIG TROUBLE!

I wish you luck (I honestly do for all the teams) but with what I know about the game...your pass to the 2nd round, like your book deal, has been canceled.

Patricia is going to be very sad, very sad indeed...

Who said I was talking about A&M winning the tournament? I simply said what would give A&M the best chance to make a run in the touranment. Big difference. I have made it pretty clear that it is not about A&M being a contender...just about what would have given A&M the best chance to win a game or two. Why can't you understand that? Maybe it's my "longest sentence ever" and you forgot what I was talking about.

Secondly, yes I have played in the tournament, 3 to be exact. Here you go again making accusations and assumptions for things I said. I never said a team with a great offense and a bad defense will win the tournament. I know what it takes to win the tournament. I played in it with a team with a great offense and a bad defense and I played in it with a team with a great offense and a pretty darn good defense. Absolutely we had better results when we had a good defense. This isn't about 2002 or whenever. This is about this team, this year, with these 16 teams. Again, it is about what would have given A&M the best chance...would have...past tense, theoratically, hypothetically, in the perfect world...that is it. Nothing else to argue here.

By the way, I played on the prolific offensive team with a bad defense that beat an eventual final four team. So don't tell me it cant work. I'm pretty sure we worked them over by 7 or 8 goals too. Does that me we had a better team that year...not necessarily...but you can still win a game or two with offense only.

UCSB? CSU? Sonoma? BYU?

Which of those teams did you beat by 7 or 8 in 2002?
