simultaneous fouls?

Team A has posession, Team B defender slashes across the head of man with possession. Ref blows the whistle and calls team A for warding. Although he didn't blow the whistle before the slash took place, he said the ward happened first and awarded the ball to Team B. correct call?

Here is the correct call:
There is a flag down on Team B for the slash, with a slow whistle since A still has possession. Once Team A is called for the ward, that simply kills the FDSW and the slash penalty is now enforced. This is not a simultaneous fouls situation.

If Team A had committed a slash instead of a ward, you would have an immediate whistle also, and these WOULD be simultaneous fouls, since they are live balls fouls committed on the same play. Both in for a minute, non-releasable. In awarding the ball;
a) If a team has possession or is entitled to possession at the time of
the flag or whistle, that team shall retain possession.
b) If neither team has possession at the time of the fouls, the ball
shall be awarded according to the alternate-possession rule.

If Team A had dropped the ball and there was a whistle, and THEN committed a slash, you have a live-ball/dead-ball sequence, but they are not considered simulataneous fouls (they are releasable) and the ball is awarded to Team B.

I realize I misread the original post, that the ref said that A was warding BEFORE the slash, and simply awarded the ball to B (I'm assuming he is saying that there is no slash since it happened after the ward). That is wrong. Even if you had a ward on Team A (which would award the ball to B) and during the dead ball Team B slashes (or commits any other personal foul) YOU ENFORCE THE PERSONAL FOUL PENALTY! Team B should have gotten a minute and the ball should have been awarded to team A.
At least in my previous post you all learned more about the topic of simultaneous fouls!

Thanks. Your second explanation is about how it happened. I just didn't know since he hadn't blown the whistle on the warding, but did immediately after the slash. He was slow with his whistle on the warding, but the slash happened so quickly, i just didn't know if it was considered simultaneous fouls or what. Never the less a personal foul is penalized no matter when it takes place, dead ball or not.
