Mastao Takeshita facing off with Doug Abate and Chris Schaible on the wings is automatic for UCSB. If Masoato doesn't win the clamp, then one of those guys always seems to suck up the ball.

The kid from SB is very good don't get me wrong, but I don't think he is as good as advertised...I think the reason for his gaudy stats is his wing play...having those two poles on the wing almost seems unfair at times...I think he is a better than average face off guy, but with those wing guys he becomes downright awesome...I think there are better guys in this league at actually winning the draw, but the entire group out there is pretty tough to beat....the reason why he probably didn't do that well against BYU is becuase they are the only team with poles that can rival what SB is throwing out there on the wings...I am not trying to take anythinga away from the SB guy, but I wanted to more give credit to the dying art of wing play....
just my opinion...I could be wrong.....

Turtle does everything by himself. His worst game this year was against BYU but that was because his legs started cramping very badly, yet he still managed to go 12 of 19. Also read coach Flip's journal entry after they played Oregon. He makes it sound as if Turtle was a GOD. Can club players be nominated for the Tewaaraton Award because his name should be on the list

After seeing Turtle in person this weekend I was shocked at how much he changes the outcome of the game... I was sitting with our 3-time B div. 1st Team All-Conference FOS and he had his jaw open pretty much the whole time. Turtle could easily be the single biggest impact player that is in the league and by himself gives Oregon a great shot at going the distance in the tournament. This kid is not just hype, he can flat out take over a game. Good luck Ducks on your run in Dallas.
Lacrosse in Montana...

I bumped into parents of players on my team at the PNCLL Final Four weekend and they were there just to see Turtle from UO. He has celebrity status up here in with the lacrosse community in the Northwest.

I heard Turtle ran into Chuck Norris once in a dark alley and only Turtle came out.

I believe you were going to say "Mini-Ditkas". I've never seen turtle, and I'm from the midwest so I'll go with the Mini Ditkas.

75% - is not "automatic," that guy is probably pretty good, his teamamtes probably really like him
When you see a face-off guy who loses one, on a horrible day two, face-offs a game and dominates the ball...those are the guys we usually refer to as automatic.
dtrain, Ashenfelter is a three time All-America player. He's better than "pretty good." I don't know how to make that any more clear.
And there is no such thing as a face off guy who considers two face-off losses "horrible." Stop exaggerating.

Thanks for the news flash. Last time I checked, this was a message board for club lacrosse primarily. A fair amount of the "division lax" teams that you are talking about can't even compete with the club teams in the MCLA, so that claim does not hold much weight.
I'm really just nitpicking, but I think he was referring to the fair amount of D1 programs back East. In that case, it is the club teams who can't compete with the division teams.

Just throwing this out there.......
The MCLA might want to be careful using the term "Academic All American" as I believe it is already copyrighted by CoSIDA and their academic all-American program.

I absolutely hate to point this out, but they use the term, " Academic All-America" and there is not a copyright symbol next to it anywhere on their webpage. So the MCLA is probably alright with using whatever they want.
