I will never understand the NCAA. In order to eliminate prep basketball kids abusing a "diploma mill", they are also going to make everyone who ever attended a legitimate school ineligible as well? Oh wait, you can appeal your AUTOMATIC ineligibility. I guess if you decide to do a PG year you have to hope that the NCAA will have pity on you and grant you eligibility following an appeals process. Having known kids who needed another year of maturing at places such as Fork Union Military Academy, I believe this to be unspeakably unfair. Does this mean that athletes that attend the Naval Prep School are also ineligible and must appeal??? Why doesn't the NCAA mandate that diplomas be granted by accredited high schools only? Seems to me that a "diploma mill" would have a hard time getting accreditation.
The NCAA is a bunch of dopes.

I don't think this is that bad of a rule, the players can always go to an actual juco and not go to prep school. For the the kids who need a "year to mature" if they made grades coming out of high school they do not need to get their AA degree before transferring to a 4 year college. If they didn't they can play 2 years of juco ball and then transfer and already have one degree they can do something with and still have a redshirt year to take. Also, if the NCAA is going to make you appeal your degree from a prep school, you are not going to even try unless you know you did the work, so kids from Fork Union Military Academy know they did the work and have done everything right still can use it how it is meant to.
