I agree with most of the names being "dropped", because we all know that no one east of the rockies has any game at all . . .
They certainly do have game. However, it seems to disappear come crunch time.

actually most people in the east are busy playing division lax and not club ball. thats why BC and Northeastern dotn get much attention. They need to invite better teams to come play them there...

Thanks for the news flash. Last time I checked, this was a message board for club lacrosse primarily. A fair amount of the "division lax" teams that you are talking about can't even compete with the club teams in the MCLA, so that claim does not hold much weight.

It's not an issue of who they play during the regular season, it's how they fare in the post-season that is of particular importance. I am glad to see other leagues are doing well this year. I hope teams such as NE and BC win some games this year at the tourney and advance to the quarter-finals or semi-finals.

Because I pointed out 2 BC players that I feel deserve recognition? No one says a word about anyone outside of the WCLL or RMLC, and you're coming after me for simply pointing out a couple of guys that have talent? Do you honestly think that there isn't a player east of Colorado that might be worthy of AA honors?
I have seen BYU, UCSB and Oregon play and I can tell you that the players that I mentioned should be considered in AA discussions with players from those teams.

I didn't realize that All America honors only went to players who are on teams that are in the final 4 of the tournament. I thought it was an individual award. I dont know what I was thinking.

that seems to be the way it is around here.....The haves and the have nots, and those in the "inner circle" have a ton of difficulty recognizing anyone who isn't part of their group

As Fred Gwynne said in My Cousin Vinny, "Once again the communication process has broken down."
I was trying to point out that players from outside the RMLC and WCLL who have garnered AA honors seem to disappear when it comes to the national tournament. I have no problem that players from other leagues make the AA team. I do, however, find it troubling when these players face stiff competition and fail to produce at the tournament. What is so wrong in stating that?

Another aspect to examine is the fact that someone could be of all-american talent and not be playing on a team that makes the playoffs. A defensive player could be excellent, but the rest of the team could be mediocre. It makes it hard to shine when everyone else is giving up five goals a piece. I am definitely a proponent of the view that the best players do not have to be on the best teams.

With regard to Ashenfelter, he's actually a three time All-America FOGO. Over his career he's faced teams from all over the country and done very, very well. Just sayin'.
Edit: Having said that, this Turtle kid sounds awesome. Can't wait to see him play in Texas.

More Cowbell, earlier in this post you are telling us (I am paraphrasing here) how "the goalie is automatic at X?"
Either you are using nomenclature incorrectly, or your goalie is saving 75% of his shots, FROM BEHIND THE GOAL...Most people can't save that many shots in the crease, let a lone behind it. That man deserves far more than an All-AmericaN award.

Ahhhhhhhhh, thank god. The world is right again.
It makes much more sense that I am an idiot and can't read, than it does a Boston College player deserving an All-American award
By the way, MoreCowbell's post reminds me of a great post a couple of year's ago (a dollar for anyone that remembers the posters name...Temo, is that right?) about a stud defenseman from Texas A&M, who deserved 1st team All-American honors, "cause he is really good, and only gets burned a couple times a game."
50% at the face-off X, both guys are pretty terrible.
75% - is not "automatic," that guy is probably pretty good, his teamamtes probably really like him
When you see a face-off guy who loses one, on a horrible day two, face-offs a game and dominates the ball...those are the guys we usually refer to as automatic.
