alot of those numbers also seem somewhat directly related to the roster size of the team. when a team only has 18 or 20 on a roster its hard to have more than 5 or 6 players that can score or assist efficiently. as for the voting issue...i think if teams in the north are required to play 2 or 3 teams from the south and vice versa, it will help coaches get chances to see teams and players from the other side of the conference. it may be far fetched but its just a thought

This is my first post ever and my second year as an LSA player. hopefully i either upset no one or everyone at once.

In my opinion, these players are people that teams rally around, who not only initiate plays but carry them out efficiently. and whether against a bad team or a great team a good set is a good set, and a nice goal looks just as pretty. A voting coach or player might easily overlook a missed pass or 2 for the general spirit that a certain player brings to the field. What my point is that players that have influenced enough votes to make it to this high of a level a lot of the time dont necessarily need the stats or the deified appearance of an MLL all star, but should be someone who makes a signifigant impression on each team (including their own) as a FORCE on the field, in almost every game they are a part of. i think thats what makes someone all LSA or all america.

Two names come to mind from this weekend when you start talking about players who mean everything to their teams: UT's Alex Kroviak (who doesn't get enough cred) and UNT's Trevor Hussey (who does, which is a good thing). That guy Kroviak is the heart and soul of the Longhorn team (along with Ernst), and I'm glad to see he was somewhat recognized on the 3rd team.

I got excited reading Everett's post about the ridiculously low amount of seniors who were big offensive factors this year. No disrespect intended to the few of you out there, but this league is young and extremely talented. Should be a fun next couple of seasons.

Finally, in response to the All-LSA voting issues being discussed, I'd like to offer a suggestion that I heard about on Sunday. When deciding on some of your last spots, voters should contact some of the other coaches around the league (especially from opposite regions) and get their input on their own players. I'm not saying it'll make a huge difference, but it might help to fine-tune the system a bit.

In reply to Tom Greene's response, I looked at your roster and notice that you coach three kids from Georgetown Prep, a dominate school from the east coast who finished at #1 in the country in high school last year. I know these kids have tons of talent Can you elaborate on them more and how they play in your team system and probably how they make the players around them much better?? (#8 Conley, #14 Taylor, # 25 Martin).
Another note, heard that SMU got completely screwed over in the playoff situation with some player or something?????

All three players were significant offensive threats this season and will continue to be for years to come. Besides the obvious differences in skill set, most of my guys from the D.C. area tend to have a greater knowledge of the game from being around it so much. They often have good ideas about how to tweak a drill to make it that much better or see a different option off a play, etc. As long as they bring it up in a respectful manner, I am more than obliged to listen. You have to respect their upbringing when playing at one of the best high schools in the country.

In response to your other comment, we didn't exactly "get screwed over" regarding the playoffs. One member of our team made an honest mistake that could have happend to any team in the league. We have since moved on and look forward to an exciting 2008 season. Hopefully, everyone will learn a valuable lesson from this, and quite possibly the league (or at least SMU) will look into changing up the eligibility check system.

In response to Ev awhile back...yea it is hard for us up here in Oklahoma to watch games on teams we don't know and to be honest we probably don't during the season b/c we're active almost every weekend. I mean, granted, we get a real good look at the teams we play, but other then the stats on MCLA, we don't know much about other teams like TSU, A&M, or the like, so just have to go with what other coaches tell us or whats on the website. Defenders are also a hard one to figure out as well.
