LSA Final Four - FORD STADIUM

Postby lax4ever on Sun Apr 29, 2007 11:10 am

Texas 13
Texas A&M 15
Great game. Texas was down 4-11 at half time and cut the lead to one goal in the 2nd half. Standout games by A&M middie, Nathan Tabb and by UT middie, Alex Kroviak.

Thanks to everyone who came out this weekend to watch some great lacrosse. We had great weather, and the event ran very smoothly.

I'd like to take this opportunity to give credit where it's due. Karl absolutely busted his ass on this one, and he should be applauded. In many conversations he and I had over the last few months, I often wondered aloud why he put so much time and energy into the league, and now, this event. His response every time was that he just wanted players at this level and in this region of the country to get the same collegiate lacrosse experience he and many others got at the Varsity level. Some of us might not see it from his somewhat confrontational demeanor (which is actually the only way a bunch of college lacrosse players are going to get anything done), but Karl and several others (Brent B., Tony S., Noah F., Bill B., etc.) are taking the LSA to new heights never seen before. With these administrative developments come more organization within each program, bigger budgets, stronger schedules, and thus better teams. It won't be long until we see the first LSA team holding the MCLA championship trophy.

I have to also give a shout out to Agent Ogden (responsible for the LSA's new look and brand - very nice), Jason Zantjer (Tournament Director), and Larry Monaco (Volunteer coordinator) and his staff.

We'll all need to work harder next year to get more people out to the games. But until then, congratulations to A&M, and good luck at Nationals.

Looking forward to the LSA in '08,

Everyone involved with the Championship weekend did a great job. I thought the venue was awesome, the play of all the teams was great and some great lacrosse was played.

Only one complaint was that their was no running Clock on the scoreboard, but I can understand how that would be difficult to sync up from the Score booth.

Great Job and Congrats to A&M.

Lets hope that Tony S. can pick up win number 400 at Nationals.

Does anyone have the All-America list that was announced at the game today? I remember 3 or 4 of them.....but I am trying to figure out who the others were. Congratulations to all 6 however.

Also, can anyone from Texas or has a contact with Fink report on whether or not the kid from UT (#26 i think) who got hurt will be ok. From the looks of it, and from experience, that looked like an ACL (knock on wood).

Everett, I was thinking the same thing about that player. I hope everything is ok. The players listed for All-American honors that I remember are:

Trevor Hussey- North Texas
Ernst Leiss- Texas
Neil Warf- Baylor
Ben Olson- Baylor

The injury looked all to familiar to what I did a year ago. I am not sure but I believe the other two were from A&M: Tabb and Dufour

amazing game. what a great comeback for ut to make the 4th quarter a great game to watch.

credit to all involved in getting the event hosted @ smu. i wouldn't mind seeing that become the annual host site for the conference game. it's a great venue for lacrosse.

and for rick f. for heading up the merchandise & tickets at the gate. he's good people.

can't wait for the mcla's in 2 week up in frisco. i will be there. gig 'em ags.

I believe Paul McCloud of UT was on the AA list instead of DuFour.

Steve Herrmann got some great shots of the weekend (several hundred) that can be found at the following website:

Big thank you to Karl, the league administration, SMU Lacrosse and their athletic department, volunteers and all fans that came out to watch a wonderful weekend of ball.

I agree 100% with Coach Greene's sentiments.....................

We don't know for sure yet, but everything points to his ACL. Thanks for asking.

Best of luck to the Ags.
