I just got a new Dell Inspiron two weeks ago. Once I got all the crap that comes preloaded off of it, it runs perfect. I've never liked Mac's, and won't get one unless I absolutely have to.

In the past year, I've been provided with a Dell E1505 by my employer (terrific machine in many ways) and I've bought an iMac for the home. The Mac is the better machine with regard to reliability and ease of use.

Since the days of the Mac Classic to the iMac and now the Intel based macs it has always been a superior machine. If you really feel like you have to have XP/vista just run a vitualization software like boot camp or Parallels Desktop.
