Can someone please explain exactly how the voting for All Conference team works? Mainly, how does a player like Bobby King from UCF only get honorable mentioned when he averaged 5.64 ppg total and 4.25 ppg vrs top 20 teams in the country. Is it because UCF didnt make the playoffs?

Votes used to be cast by opposing coaches. Not sure how they're done now.
Not sure if not making the tournament hurts one's chances, but it probably doesn't help.
Wow. I was really helpful here.

The coach of each team submits a number of nominations that are ranked by the coach. The number of nominations considered by a committee of coaches is determined by where the coach's team finished in the polls. A committee of coaches goes through the coach's reason for nominating the players and makes a list. Ken then goes though them ALL (at least all that were submitted) and compiles the final list. Also, it does usually seem that attack is always the most crowded. The guy I put as a close second didn't get chosen for anything, and he had about the same stats as the guy that got chosen for 2nd team. I do believe they may show some preference for graduating seniors since it's their last time playing.
At any rate, it's a thankless job and it's great that we have the army of volunteers that do all these things (all conf, all league, this website, audio broadcasts, top quality pictures at the tourny, etc). I don't know of many (if any) varsity conferences that have all this.

correct
You are correct Kevin (congrats on COY award by the way).
I have a committee of coaches that reviews and tries their best to select the best players from all of the nominations. There are 10 attack positions and we had over 20 attack nominated. Very hard....
Other sad part of this- we had 6 A teams NOT submit nominations.
Makes our job even harder IMO when we can not include deserving players because their coaches or team admin. fail to answer the e-mails I send out.
Sorry- AU, UT, USF, Miami, NCSU, ECU
Congrats to all
