SELC Div A Championship: Georgia 13, Florida 12 (4/22/07)

tough break for the Gators. 3 games in 3 days.
hopefully the pollsters look into their schedule and their strength of wins to give them an at-large bid.
another example of why the SELC is the toughest conference. while other conferences have 1-3 good teams every year...SELC always has at least 4 teams in contention to win a conf championship and get an atlarge bid.
RMLC and WCLL are easily tougher but it's nice to see the competitiveness in the SELC getting better.
If you ever fall off the Sears Tower, just go real limp, because maybe you'll look like a dummy and people will try to catch you because, hey, free dummy.

I'm sure the SELC appreciates your under handed compliment...

Why get so defensive??? SELC toughest?
BYU, CU, CSU compared to UF, FSU, and UGA...... which one is more difficult to rise to the top in?

Which one is more difficult to rise to the top? SELC...16 teams compared to a measly 5. Atleast 4/5 of RMLC gets to go to the playoffs to have a chance to win the championship.
Not saying the SELC has better teams...just a harder road.

I might agree with you, but I would think Georgia or Florida would have had a much tougher time getting by BYU, CSU, CU, or Utah in the semi-finals and then have to face one of them again in the finals. Are you trying to say it is tougher because they have to play a quarter final game?

i think the original post referred more to competitive parity.
I don't think anyone is under the impression that the SELC is tougher than conferences that have 3 top 10 teams.
congrats to UGA on their win, congrats to the Gators on a great tourney run.

probably a discussion better saved until the rest of the conferences wrap up their playoffs, but i think UF's main competition for the 16 spot would be BC.
(assuming FSU drops and uga and uf move up to 15/16).

Not trying to be underhanded. Just telling it as I see it. The SELC has had 1 final four team in recent memory (FSU 2 years ago) and now they've fallen off. The top 4 of the SELC are very competitive in conference but still have a long way to go on a national scale. Just the way I see it.
If you ever fall off the Sears Tower, just go real limp, because maybe you'll look like a dummy and people will try to catch you because, hey, free dummy.

I agree with this. To me the top of the SELC is as good as the 4th best RMLC team, Utah. Not meant to be a slight but just an observation of the teams involved.

I agree with Danny's statement. It was not a national comment- purely SELC chat. No one in the SELC is saying we are on the same level as the WCLL or RMLC. I have said this a few times- we are slowly getting there but are making progress each season as a league. Once we get more competitive in our own league that will only help raise the talent in the SELC and help us more nationally.
Our conference tourney is a bear. The games are close and very competitive. We lost to UGA last night 10-6 and I would bet the UGA guys said it was a much tougher game than the score shows (as much as a 4 goal game can tell you) and of course the VT-UF game, which was back and forth the whole time.
The post was made just comparing the tough run that seems to be each year in the SELC tourney. Enough said. Good luck eveyone as the Dallas picture gets clearer with each passing weekend from here on in.

Is this Georgia's first national tourney appearance?
