Wow all the LU hype worked. #15. Didn't see that coming.

I am not one of the voters, but I know plenty of them and I am confident that they all take their roles quite seriously. Looking at the list from top to bottom, I can't find any major disagreements. This is really the first poll of the year that means anything, since before we had a number of teams that hadn't even played their first game, and I think the pollsters did an admirable job.

It's difficult enough to evaluate the BYU-Michigan-Arizona outcomes, but the Washington (- 10 Chico; +12 SFU), Chico (+10 UW; -4 SFU), SFU (+4 Chico; - 12 UW) scores are almost impossible to sort out. Hopefully, the second half of the season will make things clearer and not even more muddled. As for Lindenwood, a #15 ranking seems about right. They have beaten everyone on their schedule and with Texas Tech probably their toughest game remaining, they will probably end up around #15 even if they win out. At least two teams (#15 and #16 will probably get bumped by the LSA and UMLL League Champs) in the top 16 will not make it to Minnesota, so at #15 Lindenwood will still have to win the GRLC to make it to the National Championships.

All in all, I don't envy the task of the pollsters, and I think they spend a great deal of time evaluating the Top 25 spots and coming up with the best list possible. Consider this my preemptive rebuttal to the inevitable complaints that will follow.

This is probably nit-picking but I'm just curious how San Diego St. got 6 points in this poll after receiving none in the previous poll. Since the last poll, they lost to USC and Chapman. Wondering if those votes were actually meant for UC San Diego.

Can't find much disagreement with this either. The only gripe some may have is the relative placing of Oregon, given their loss to SFU and SFU's loss to Washington. Other than that, the poll seems about right.

I wouldn't be concerned about Lindenwood's placement either. They will probably get the AQ form that league in all likelihood, so it really doesn;t matter. The big question about them, that will be answered at the tournament, is will they be ready for the competition they are going to face?

The polls look alright.

Miami(OH) was #17 after the 1st poll, and they lose to the #13(G Tech) and #15(Lindenwood) teams in the poll. They should not move back to #20. They beat a solid #21 Duluth squad and also wins over Tennessee, Auburn, and Illinois. With close loses to both Georgia Tech(by 1) and Lindenwood(by 3).

Just my thoughts, any others?

i gotta think that some voters didn't hear about SFU's 14-2 loss to Washington.

yeah and duluth goes from 12 to 21 with 2 1 goal losses (miami and lindenwood, both ranked highly) and a convincing 11-5 win over a good Illinois team and Washington is ranked lower then both teams UMD lost to yet simon fraser is still 16????

SFU was ranked #14 in the previous poll, and played three games. The Clansmen won two big road games since then, over Oregon (then a top ten team) and ranked Chico State. One bad loss to an unranked team (us, now ranked) shouldn't negate what was accomplished the week before, at least shouldn't completely. We voters try to consider ALL the results instead of any one game.

And by the way, SFU is a very good team, as I trust Poly and LMU will find out this weekend. We'll all also know if they are ranked too high or too low.

all the teams 10-30 are very good teams and should have a shot at moving up if a team ranked above them gets absolutely dominated by an unranked team. If a team is not going to move down after a loss like that, what is it going to take?

sorry to come off as a whiner, I was just commenting on the poll, which is what this thread is about. I haven't seen SFU play, I am sure thye are really good, and I am not one to say they aren't deserving of the 16 spot, however I was just pointing out the difference UMD faced in what I deem as more "reasonable" loses, if there is such a thing. Alas, no big deal it must be proven on the field anyway.
