UMD LACROSSE CAMP

Just wanted to let everyone know that this summer, UMD will be putting on a lacrosse camp on the UMD campus.

Basic info is an overnight camp from July 25-29, 2007 (Wed-Sun).
All boys 12-19
Cost: $450

Will be directed by UMD coach Frank Clark and others on UMD staff as well as Michael Bordi (Maryland), James Miceli (Adelphi), Joe Donnelly Jr and Sr (both Goalie coaches from Philly, Jr. played at Navy) as well as several current UMD players and high school coaches.

I personally believe this is going to be a great camp. Not only because I am a UMD alum and involved in the organization of camp but because I know the coaches will really work to improve each camper. I will personally be sending as many guys there from Burnsville as possible.

That sounds like an amazing camp. Hopefully some of the first year players throughout the college ranks will also attend. This camp is further proof that the UMLL and not the Swarm is responsible for increasing the popularity of lacrosse in Minnesota. Ryan Ward is the only person involved with the Swarm that has helped with Minnesota lacrosse. The Swarm needs to take a larger interest in lacrosse in Minnesota.

Lightning Lax Camps is hosting a camp on the U of M TC campus this summer as well, July 29th thru August 1st. I know Ryan Ward is the head camp director, and some of the area coaches will be counselors as well (i.e. Adam Crane). It's exciting to hear about all of these camps springing up in the state now...I remember having to travel to Notre Dame after my freshman year of high school to receive decent coaching at a camp. As long as these kids get out to a camp they are going to benefit from the coaching they receive - I just hope we can get enough kids out to keep the camps running annually until the sport can really gain a foothold.
