At half it was SJU-5, UST-0

UST picked it up in the second half. Their goals were from Julius, #17, and I think King and #23. Sorry for not knowing names!

I think Sadder and Strauss had 2 or 3 each for SJU. Ongjoco had 1 for sure.

SJU did well killing penalties.

Groundballs were always a great battle.

Can't wait for the conference playoffs!!!

1st goal for SJU was called off due to an illegal stick. The SJU Defense was able to kill the 3 minute pentalty with no goals.

Another Classic Johnnie/Tommie game.

Probably close to a 1000 people there, lots of SJU and UST fans.

another top notch tommie/ johnnie game. physical, both goalies played very well. Filled the stands and really represented the UMLL to the fullest. can't say i'm happy to be on the losing end but it was a pleasure to be a part of such a good lacrosse game. Good Luck the rest of the weekend to all the UMLL squads.

NDSU 14
Bethel 11

(Unofficial)

NDSU came out with a 6-3 lead in the first quarter. Second quarter they faultered a little as Bethel kept it close. The second half was mainly posessed by NDSU but they had a hard time getting it past the keep(1st half most shots went in, second half, most were stopped). Most goals in the first half came from NDSU attack but Bethel D was much more effective, shutting down SU's main scorers in the second half.

Althought NDSU had possession most of the second half, they were plagued by dropped passes. Overall, they won the ground ball war. An illegal stick by bethel in the first half yielded a goal fo NDSU, but Bethel scored shorthanded. Bethel's middies (#10 and #11, don't know names mainly handled the ball) kept them in it. It was a fast break game for both teams. Lots of iso with some great individual performances on both sides

I've seen most of NDSU's games and this was by far the most effective they've been offensively. Their coaching and hard work is starting to pay off. I realize I am partial, but they had good movement and pretty good clears. It will be fun to see them square off with Carleton.

good job johnnies...congrats on your likely #1 seed going into this next week. It sure looks as if you and Westminster are the teams to beat right now.

St Thomas/St John

Postby Jester on Sat Apr 14, 2007 10:01 am

The intensity for both teams may have been a little too high in first half, as neither of them could complete a pass to save their lives. All the adrenaline made them foul-happy(there were constantly whistles), and SJU figured out that it they just carried the ball to the goal from behind while man up, (Sadder x1, Strauss x2, and I think Ongjoco had one that was waived for an illegal stick) St Thomas was totally thrown off.

2nd half was much better lacrosse all around, though St Thomas still couldn't buy a clear. They had lots and lots of turnovers, especially with overthrows out of bounds. St Johns defense was very patient, as well, defending Julius' dodges from up top and only leaving shots from 10-15 yards and out which Nelson was totally unfazed by.

Neither side had any control of faceoffs. They were a back and forth battle all night, though SJU seemed to win a few more scrums, or have a push called their way.

The St. Thomas long poles were individually very, very good. Multiple helicopters from poke checks, played well with their feet. It was really the man down time that killed them.

Bethel 8
Moorhead 6

Despite actually out numbering a team Moorhead suffered another loss. Bethel's goal keeper was awesome turning away all but 6 shots moorhead had. The game was tied at 6 all at the end of the third quarter. Momentum swung to Moorhead but they were unable to capitalize. Bethel came despite small numbers and scored two final goals of the game and hand the dragons another loss.

St. Johns- 12
UWEC- 2

Game ended early due to an injury. Not sure on the exact person, but believe it was #8 on St. Johns. We wish him a fast recovery back to 100%. No one likes to see an injured player on either side. Our thoughts and prayers are with him. Good game St. Johns and keep us informed on his status.

The injured player was senior Ben Ivory (ATT). He suffered a concussion and a hip flexor injury, due to how he fell after getting knocked out. But they didn't say anything about a possible knee injury, which surprises me seeing how he landed. Hopefully he is going to be ok, he's a big part of the team.
