westminster 14 utah 11 final
that's correct westminster beat utah. i know, i know.
i'll post later on the game as a whole.
gotta do some school work.
big game though.
possibly crushing one team's dreams for a trip to nationals and easily punching a ticket for the other.
utes were down by ten at one point. they scored like 5 + goals in the last 6 or seven minutes.
it's a bitter sweet win for me as i played at the U last year.
(
as if this post isn't long enough i'll post more in a couple hours.
nice win griffins.

Unofficial from Bozeman, 15-12 UNC over Montana State... sorry no details, not even positive on the score, but I'm sure it was a good game.

From Bozeman: UNC 15 Montana St. 11.
In a game that was tied 5-5 at halftime, The Bears came out fired up in the second half, Outscoring Montana State10-6. UNC fought through a 10 hour van trip the night before and many man down situations. Goalie Grant Platt # 88 had a great game with many one on one saves. Also freshman attack man Kyle Boyd played the best game of his young career. 7 Goals and 2 Assists and dominated the ground balls. The only senior on the Bears roster # 13 Jake Smith played a great game from the midfield scoring key goals and providing great leadership. It was a good win for the Bears on a very nice day in Bozeman.

this was a game of defense. although the score doesn't quite indicate that.
our defense (westminster) has been getting better and better on making sure the 2 is there. i think we showed that our lack of 2 and 3 slides in past games has gotten much better today. our two slide disrupted a half a dozen almost assured goals.
on the other side, utah's defense looked lackluster. without the leader, anchor, and heart of the defense, clint english (whom my mom just wrote an awesome article on, yay mom) they looked flat footed. jeremy (another assistant with me) and i agreed that intensity and willingness to be vocal are contagious and in many ways clint starts the d in that mode. he was a great loss.
during the first three quarters westmini dominated in every facet of the game including a near shutout quarter in the third as the utes scored with 45 seconds remaining.
in the fourth the utes made their run. i don't have the actuall stats but it was ferocious. i kept looking at the clock and thinking okay they're down 7 and they need a goal a minute to tie. then it was okay they're down by three and they need a goal a munute. what a run.
in the end i feel glad for my griffins, as we will almost assuredly be ranked number one in the upcoming b division poll but i feel horrible that it had to come at the expense of my utes. many of which i love as brothers. (you know who you are)
i hate to say it but this dimms the utes hopes for going to nationals greatly. although there is still hope as the next closest to them in the polls is 61 points back and they still have a chance to prove themselves on thursday.
i bled purple today (somewhat painfully) but i'll be bleedin' red on thurs as my utes take on the bougars, i mean cougars from happy valley.

From Gunnison, CO.
Mines 11 Western State 7
Fort Lewis 17 Mines 10
Mines had a plan, we worked the plan, we deviated from the plan after Fort's depth began to show, and ultimately that depth (combined with excellent coaching) proved to be too much. Good Luck to Fort tomorrow vs. Creighton (at Regis)!
FYI from the GRLC forum
Creighton 12 Regis 9
Thanks to Western for hosting today!

wow. congrats to the griffin family(am I the only one who thinks westminsters helmets should have peter, brian, stewie and the rest on them?)I would think that they will at least be #2, with the current 1 and 2 playing each other this week. I do think they will be in the top spot.
Horrible turn of events for the U. they go from almost guaranteed a spot, to being put behind the 8ball, having to beat a team that they have never beaten(BYU) not once but twice(they are guaranteed to face each other in the RMLC first round already). But, people will say one team has never beaten another team.......until they beat them....Twice? I will be glued to my monitor for that game. Good luck Utes, you will need it either way.
