I have read a lot on this message board...Some welcome new teams others dont...
Lets open this discussion again...
What should Ole Miss do next year?i.e.MCLA League
I know a lot of you have mental images of the old Ole Miss Lax team, share them...and I will correct those with the actions of the new program
We are here to compete now
New Teams?

I played against Ole Miss when I was at Tennessee back in the mid-1990s. The team was not that commited and was made up of mostly guys from MUS. They had trouble getting guys to make road trips or would cancel games against other SELC teams at the last minute. This is the team I remember: http://www.olemiss.edu/orgs/lacrosse/
Following the new Ole Miss lacrosse team over the past two years, it looks like now they have their act together. I have no problem with organized teams, who are commited both on and off the field, apply for the conference. Ole Miss is in a tough spot though, geographically speaking. Not quite SELC. LSA? GRLC?
My concerns for your program would be that Oxford to Iowa City/Omaha/Manhattan is a hike. Do you want to be an A Division team or are you content to stay in the B Division with no chance of post-season play? If Ole Miss was to apply, then I believe the time for the X Division has arrived. We would have enough teams to make such a division viable.
What is the chance of the Louisiana teams organizing and Ole Miss joining with them to form a new conference that could join the MCLA?

The New Ole Miss team does not have a single player from MUS, and quite happy about that
We want playoffs, therefore looking into joining Div A
We are in a hard spot geographically in the college lacrosse dead zone
X Division: I would not allow my team to join such a division...Competition makes teams better, therefore I know Ole Miss will surprise the MCLA next year....especially one I announce the recruiting class
Louisiana teams: LSU,TULANE
GCLA teams: LATECH,LOYOLA,CENTENARY,ULL
Mississippi: Ole Miss and MSU
Memphis: UMemphis,Rhodes,CBU
A competitive MCLA league...not a chance
ALSO Ole Miss is hosting a 16 team tournament for Fall Ball, if interested please message me

I would not draw a line in the sand. Division A or nothing could get you nothing in the GRLC. (Just my 2 cents) I'm sure you have a nice class coming in and will be competitive but don't make all or nothing statements. You are welcome to come up to Champaign in the fall. I can get a couple of quality teams to join us. The ability to travel carries more weight than a nice recruiting class. I believe what Ethan meant by X division is a developmental division within the GRLC with a championship and all conference team.

We have been traveling everywhere. Our first home game is tomorrow. I made a heavy away schedule with your comments in mind.
I understand the concept of a Div X would be a developmental league. Yes Ole Miss still needs to develope, but it is further along than yall think.
I have heard that rules will be changing this summer anyhow about Div A+B

Fair enough. I heard that you brought a partial team to Missouri. We can talk about it at the fall meeting. I was giving you a chance to convince me since I am the div. A coach that is most against expansion. I want to be sure that you guys will come to Champaign before we spend $5000+ to come down to Oxford. I have to be honest, I'd rather spend that money traveling to AZ, CO, CA etc. to play a top 25 team. Good luck with the rest of your season.

As a team looking to join the MCLA-B next year...I definitely think what Stevens is saying hold merit.
We're looking to travel next year moreso than play games at home and convince teams that it's worth it to come to Atlanta in the future. Although we have the benefit of having GT, UGA, KSU, Emory and SCAD a stone's throw away.

Granted...We are scheduling a trip to CA for next spring. To play UCLA,CMC, SDSU, and USD
Beta you have a better chance of getting teams to ATL, than we have a chance to getting teams to Memphis.
Oxford is a majestic place
Yes we have traveled with partial squads to MO State and Harding....It is our first year and I am in a tugo'war with Greek life...But we are serious, I would not have moved from CA to coach Ole Miss if I did not see the potential and dedication that these men have with the sport of lacrosse
