2007 MN HS SEASON THREAD

St Cloud vs. Champlin game was cancelled because Champlin was unable to practice all last week. I'm a nice guy so I let them move the game. It would have been interesting playing with large piles of snow all over the field.

Roch Mayo/Lourdes - 7
Hastings - 3

Weather was perfect until the sun went down, where it got a little chilly.

Hastings definitely had a lot of first game rust and only 2 weeks of practice. It was also our goalie's first game, so I think his nerves got to him a bit.

Rochester's #12 (ATT) and goalie both played very well.

Um.......not yet.......that's something we need to get going. The league website is supposed to track the stats after teams input their data (www.mbsla.org) so that would be a source. Just look in the team listings for "St. Paul" (East Conference), then click Statistics. Should have some content by end of this week or next, I'd guess.

You an Andover or St. Paul guy??

Is the MBSLA website tracking both MSHSL and MBSLA games? OR is there another location to track the games?

The MBSLA will only track statistics for MBSLA games. That includes some crossover games of MBSLA vs. MSHSL.

www.mshsl.org will have stats for the MSHSL games. Under ACTIVITIES, drag down to LACROSSE, BOYS. From there, on the right side you should be able to look at each individual teams roster and stats. Not sure if there will be a "top 10" or anything.

I think this year will be one of transition, with some unexpected new teams showing strength.

As a PRE-SEASON POLL ONLY, I submit the following:

1. Blake (someone has to knock them off before I drop them But I know that they lost alot - Given their ability to score [Kip et al] and the loss of their defense are they the 1980's San Diego Chargers of MN Lax?)
2. BSM (This is the year - they have tons of returning talent, but questions about midfield are whispered.)
3. EP (lots of talk about lots of injury returners. If true, great - isn't the bigger question whether the younger players step up into the roles that are open? Or is it irrelevant with Donna at Defense and Baxter on offense)
4. Breck (When a team returns talent, they should improve)
5. Minnetonka (Young, but one of the best middies in the state at f/o)
6/7 (TIE) Osseo/Wayzata - Similar teams - great Goalies, one or two returning strong vets. Curious to see how they work with the younger players. Either could falter or ride their goalie to success.
8. Jefferson. Strong in the offensive and defensive boxes. They will make or break in the midfields. Stability in the Head Coach position is invaluable
9. AV - Lost tons in the last two years. Vince returns, Dralle Bros return, Is there enough in the rising classes to make up for the losses? Spies say quite likely.... Watch the new Uzlik at attack.
10. Eagan - Too many people I respect tell me they are for real. I've not seen them, so they get #10. Might be too low.

Others to watch
- Eastview - New coaching regime doing really smart things. Athletic talent at Attack.
- Prior Lake - Stark and Childs are creative middies and can score. Defense should be stronger.
- Edina - Strong coaching, but did graduate a bunch.
- Totino - Lost unbelievable talent (Pitzl, Sadder, Nesser, Kubovic etc). Still some talent left, but are younger players ready to step up to new roles? Again, stability at head coach counts in my poll.

Ok, fire away!
