I love the BYUtv guys. I think they always do a great job of staying objective and giving everyone else some props. However, the play on rule is not at all subjective. It may be misinterpreted on occasion, but the rule is pretty clear.
A flag down is a "play on" when the ball's down in the box until it goes out of the box. A flag down is a dead whistle if the ball is down outside of the box. I don't think it is subjective so much as refs have yet to fully get it right EVERY TIME, which is hard on certain plays. I personally love the rule. Players need to play the whistle and not what they think the whistle should be.
What will the 4/11 Division A Poll look like?

FSU hasn't really been playing any teams lately that can help them in the polls.
Neither has Sonoma, for that matter.
Wierd if CATLAXMAN brings a negative comment about Sonoma out of nowhere.
It wasn't out of nowhere. You commented about Sonoma beating VA Tech and that FSU hasn't played anyone lately. I just pointed out that people in glass houses.....

And my personal favorite good old fashioned favorite ending line....
Just my opinion...I could be wrong...

Beta...I could be wrong but I think the reason that NDNU is not ranked nationally is that they cannot compete in the postseason, I believe they are still an NAIA team that is not recognized by the NCAA. I know that is the way it was last year...Other wise I do not know why they are not ranked higher, they have stayed very close with the #2 team in the country, have a solid group of players over their and despite a bad loss to Catawba, they have put together a great season, they are definitely one of the top best in D2 if they qualified for poll voting.
NKlaxguy...
I am sorry that I insulted you by pointing out what the numbers and my own eyes have shown me in the past, I am further sorry to tell you that they have never had a first team All American, they had an honorable Mention All American once last season, and one defender does not make a team...They are 2-5 on the season, not close to the top ten, and the teams they have beaten include, Pace, a non scholarship team that lost all of their players to Post three years ago, and Assumption a perennial bottom five team in the division...SNHU is not a very good team and as anyone that knows division 2 lacrosse understands, although the Northeast 10 conference is getting better, outside their top four, there is nothing to speak of...now I don't mean to be brash or rude, or insult teams that are trying their best to put a team out there, just don't insult me and tell me I don't understand Division 2 lacrosse, I have quite an extensive knowledge of the game at many levels,
anyway, all that being said, I believe that FSU should be in the 11-13 range, and that is not to punish them but simply to reward the teams around them, teams ranked a few spots ahead and behind them have played top teams and beaten them so it is natural for them to move down. As I said, I think they can do some damage in the tourney when they get there, I still thinkt they should have beaten the D2 teams they played....I started out by saying that to compliment FSU not to degrade any of the other teams that they have played...we are close to the online chat...that should be fun, and growing ever closer to the polls, I can't wait...it feels like Christmas in April, ....now this one is for you Sonny
as always...that is just my opinion...I could be wrong...

I love Sonny's product placement...I think he's reffing my game this Saturday. Instead of throwing a flag he's gonna toss a koozy out at a penalty, "oops! for only $12 for 3, why not?!"
Good call on NDNU, they are indeed NAIA. They're making the push for NCAA aren't they??

Beta,
I think Joe Ramano has been trying to apply for membership in teh NCAA for a while...it may be a mandated wait time or something, I am not really sure, but they are proving they belong on the field that is for sure....

wingman - With all the talent out west, no doubt they'll be picking up some power. I dunno what happened with them and Catawba though, that was a shocker when I saw that.
I think it's a safe bet to say that there will be some upsets this post-season.

i think NDNU's national tourney eligibility is directly related to how many d2 teams they played this year. regardless of their NAIA status, i think they fell short of the mandatory amount of d2 games.

Just to clarify the NDNU issues being thrown around this thread having talked to their former AD this afternoon..
When NDNU made the decision to seek NCAA membership several years ago, they knew the process was a long one (4+ years, at least). At this time, they are considered a NCAA Division II athletic department and are possibly in their final year of that process depending upon the outcome of the NCAA review of their status at the end of this year.
Against the popular beliefs expressed in this thread, their absence from NCAA eligibility has nothing to do with their schedule or their lack of national ranking at this time. It is purely a procedural situation stemming from the transition process between NAIA and the NCAA. They have met the minimum NCAA game scheduling requirement as of this season. A simialr situation happened over the last few years when UC Davis women's team made the jump from Division II to Division I and was kept from the NCAA tournament for I think 3 if not 4 seasons.
As far as their lack of a national ranking; I am sure that has more to do with their results against their NCAA DIV II and III results.

good for you parker. I got a similar offer a few years back, under very similar circumstances. I turned it down and have regretted it ever since. I have watched all of this years games(I bought a 32" LCD to serve as my computer monitor, I have never regretted that move) and I think I see where Charlie and marty are getting it wrong(in my opinion). On a few of the plays whistled dead, the ball was loose at the time of the infraction. if there is no posession at the time of the foul, the whistle is immediate. On the others there was posession , so play on. I agree that it is rough on the players, being used to playing to the loose ball, for thier whole career, then a change like this puts them out of whack. But in reality, they should play to the whistle regardless. On another note, as much as I like the Chad Lewis foriegn language promo on the telecasts, I think that air time could be better utilized by lacrosse specific features during halftime. I nominate tom to produce the spots, i hear he has at least 4 and a half minutes of free time in an average day. I will not rest till his day is full. and what about having and "officials Moment during the half? get frank or omalley or marty out there to gab about reffing? maybe even dig up willie draughon. When I was coaching junior league, at half, Omalley would walk up to the fans, and adress the whole crowd with a "any questions?" and then would jump into a 6 minute sermon(I had a parent time it). ahh, those were the days. just some food for thought.
