MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota fans got their first look at coach Tim Brewster's Gophers during the spring game Saturday, one day after three players were jailed in connection with a sexual assault investigation.
[...]
Friday night when defensive end Alex Daniels, cornerback Keith Massey and running back E.J. Jones were taken into custody after an 18-year-old woman told police she was raped.

Granted the situation is a bit different, but is the media going to descend upon Minneapolis for the next year? I doubt you'll hear more than a blip about this no matter the outcome.

Nationally you may not, but in Minnesota we have had to stomach a good deal of coverage about it. I think it is imperative that programs are held acountable for the misconduct of their players. More on this to come I am sure...

The situation is termendously different. This wasn't the entire football team at a party with a stripper, it was 3 guys off on their own.

Granted, I don't think the coverage would be the same as it was for the Duke situation even if it had been the entire team involved. The fact that it was lacrosse, that it was Duke, that it was in a city with a great deal of racial tension, that it involved a good team all contributed to making it a huge story.

I just hope the charges are as bogus here as they were in the Duke case.
