Thanks. It's hard to play non-affiliated teams with the same intensity as a league game, but we were able to pull it off against a talented Metro squad.
After the game I heard a Metro player come up to a Mines player and say "we should have won this game" and that they beat Mines and UNC before. I had to laugh a little since Metro has been playing Mines, UNC, and everyone else in non-league, non-conference games. Mines is 3-1 vs Metro in the past 2 years.
Metro is very talented and disciplined. Hopefully, they will secure fields, join the RMLC and add to the very tough RMLC-B.

I guess you are saying that since playing us does not "count" that it is difficult to get people to show up and play, right? If so, we have the same problem and would love to have been able to play this seasons schedule as league/conference games. In our history we are 0-3 against you. I'm not going to lie, I do not think we played "our game" on Friday. It was a busier game for the defense than normal.
Anyway, we are looking forward to being in the league next season. The school is still prohibiting us from field access but we are working on securing fields at Dicks Sporting Goods Park. Hopefully this will take care of the concern about being forced to cancel games due to inclimate weather (which is a problem that teams currently in the league have).

Ed, What I'm trying to say is that I hope you guys join the MCLA so the games count for more in the future. I'm a proponent of intercollegiate sanctioned play because it's more competitive with school pride on the line combined with playoff implications and hopes to win a national championship. Those are probably the same reasons you guys are attempting to join the MCLA instead of remaining unaffiliated, right?
Some comparable examples of the difference in game intensity is fall ball vs. spring ball in lacrosse or regular season vs. playoffs in all sports. So it's not about people showing up, it's about more than that (we were only missing one eligible player in the Metro game Mike Rensberger 1.11g/g 0.56a/g).
Adding you guys into the RMLC-B mix would just add to that competitive atmosphere. With multiple schools neck-and-neck every game is crucial. I also look forward to UCCS continuing to build towards that level and who knows who else.
BTW, Dicks Sporting Goods Park...that's the new soccer and lacrosse facility in Commerce City opening in April, huh. Nice and good luck!!!
