I am trying to be a smart... I don't think Minnesota is in the same situation as California is when it comes to players going on to play competitive NCAA lacrosse.

I know that a ton of kids from CO go NCAA, but the problem with California is that the ones that don't go NCAA are probably staying in California for school and not lacrosse. There are so many California colleges with MDIA programs that the players are getting more and more spread out. The only MDIA team that seems to be doing very well with recruiting is Chapman.

similar situation in ratio hurts just as much (cali has more NCAA talent leaving, but also more MCLA teams losing out on it).

on a team by team basis its probably comparable

Colin Auchenbach - CW Post - I believe a 4 time all american
Charlie Senn - started at Denver, at CW Post
Ryan Hurley -Freshman, Cornell
Dan Forysth - CW Post
Pete Nelson - Wooster, transfer to UMD
Brennan Harrigton - Wittenberg, Transfer to St. Johns
Dan Gnazzo - Air Force
Stu Baxter - Lehigh
Adam Kath - Whitter
Sam Kachman - Wheeling Jesuit University
Jon Dunbar - Wheeling Jesuit Unviersity
Derrick (sorry about last name) - Butler - whoops...
Mike Evans - Quinepeac - transer back to UMD
Dan Ficken - Lees Mc.
Brandon Gilseth - Lees Mc.
Doug Chapman - Oberlin - transfered to St. Thomas
Pete Nelson's friend from Rooseville who went Catawaba (petey help me out with his name)

But you see my point - the explosion west isnt a new thing, this has been going on for quite some time, and we all have been impacted by this - any other MN coaches go ahead an add to what I missed, these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head...

More to follow, I have to find the link with them all...

this years seniors -
Mike Gilligan - Kenyon
Baxter (2) - Fairfield
Eric Schmidt - St. Johns NY
Matt Messina - Fontbonne
Trey Schulte - Fontbonne
list goes on and on at lax power....

But really this has no merrit in this board...

it would appear that you guys ship them off for a year of NCAA training and get them back the next. Stop complaining (jest).

Great points Beast.... There are only 2 A teams in CO, while there are 18 in CA.... i think this has a lot to do with the recent parity in the WCLL. The other contributing factor is that most of the A teams have very high admissions standards (Stanford, all of the UC's, USC...etc.), so kids can no longer go to schools with the "best" teams. The result has been a rise in the general level of play, and a slight decrease in play from the top teams.

Chapman is a little different, most of their recruits come from out of state, whereas most of the other CA schools seemed to be composed of mostly CA talent.

Chapman does a great job recruiting. Their coaching staff is very active.

I think we are seeing a lot more kids coming out from back east too. For once, less than half of our team is from CA. We've got kids from IL, VA, NJ, CO, DE, AZ, WA, TN, TX, OR, and GA.
