I assume this is the Ducks response to their loss to Colorado. They're defense is the best it's ever been, but I'm with ya... you can't run & gun to win many games in Dallas if you aren't getting the possessions.

This helter-skelter run'n'gun style of play which seems to be happening today is entertaining, but is not usually successful in the national tourney. Sooner or later there has to be some focus on defense. Just look at the teams who made the championship game the last 5-6 years. All of them had very good defenses.

Yeah...this seems out of character for Oregon. Holding CSU to 6, BYU to 7 and CU to 6. It's obvious they have a solid defense, but that doesn't seem to be a point of emphasis today.

Miller is picking them up himself... Jason & I are aware of the difference between the draw & winning the possession.

Miller is doing both right now. He's lost 2, 1 to a procedure call (from the wing I believe) & another was a clean win from a new specialist. He's since been beating him.

Jason calls,

Oregon calls time-out, runs a set play & drops the ball. ASU picks it up &clears. #9 gets the fast break assist to #32... Should be 8-6 Ducks.

Miller flips it backward to his wing. Both ASU wings are making defensive loops now to prevent Miller from going forward.

With as much commentary as Jason is giving, I doubt they want him near the box to get that info!

ASU in Obi Wan (2-2-2), #8 Middie feeds #1 on the crease running away from goal. He shoots underhand still going away from the cage & puts it in the top corner. The ball just drops straight down, fantastic shot.

The solution is to prolong your possessions and give your defense a rest. If you don't have the ball, you can't score.

I have a question for you players/former players: Does fatigue cause the scores to increase? Both teams have played 3 games in 4 days, I believe. And the prior post implied defenses tiring. Is fatigue a factor

We tell our team that Fatigue makes you stupid more than it makes you slow.

And I believe that - it's not the legs that go first, it's the brain for most players.

Oregon came out in a 2-2-2, but tried to dodge a middie from behind & lost the ball.

Fatigue makes one stupid more than slow.

That's a good one.

I wasn't implying that they were tiring. The way to slow down an opposing team's offense is to not let them have the ball as often. Lengthening your possessions would accomplish that.
