Caught this on Fark while killing time at the end of the day and thought it was pretty interesting...

They better hope the kid doesn't ever get a whim to search her own name on Google. Talk about feeling unloved. I feel like it would have been better for the kid if they put her up for adoption- but now instead she gets to be the kid that mommy and daddy were disappointed enough to sue ove.

They say that "while we love Baby Jessica as our own, we are reminded of this terrible mistake each and every time we look at her; it is simply impossible to ignore," the judge's decision said.

PARENTS OF THE YEAR. Regardless of how they feel about a situation...don't bring the child into it. Saying "this situation is terrible" is one thing, saying "we are reminded of this terrible mistake each and every time we look at her" is totally another. I hope Jessica has the best life possible.

I hope the parents realize how heartless they are ASAP...esp when they do a DNA test on the lawn guy and find out that he is in fact Jennifer's father...and he never went to that fertility clinic....

I thought page two had one of the most interesting lines -
The couple's lawyer, Howard Stern, did not immediately return a telephone call for comment.

Now is this the Howard Stern the mouth, or the Howard Stern that claims to have impregnated Anna Nicole? (Or could the father actually be Tom Brady??)
BTW, I agree with your thoughts about the parents' comments Beta.

I wondered the same thing. The article says their lawyer is Howard J. Stern, while the lawyer involved with ANS is Howard K. Stern. There are too many Howard Stern's in the news nowadays. In the long term scheme of things, I do feel for the young girl, but I can also empathize w/ the parents. I would be extremely upset if I was doing everything I could to have a child, and when I get the opportunity arrives someone ruins it for me and my wife. Someone must be held responsible, but hopefully the parents learn to love and care for this child.

I gotta question the word "ruins". I mean, yeah, it is a bummer that the clinic dropped the ball, but we're talking about a human life being born of a mother who couldn't naturally conceive. I understand the parents disappointment, but I agree with Beta.

This might be a blessing in disguise. Who knows, but just don't make it difficult for the kid to grow up normally.

Very well said and I agree completely. While I understand the "disappointment" and frustration, what if the parents had been told before the procedure this would be the outcome and was their only option? Might be an interesting decision whether or not they would go through with it. If they really wanted to be parents as much as they claim, I'm betting they would have jumped on the chance at the time.
