Spring is in bloom throughout the PNCLL, or at least Spring Break. That usually means that Washington is hosting the 4th Annual HIT, an indoor shindig with OOC guests Rhode Island and Texas Tech arriving in Seattle for the St. Patty's Week festivities. The Rams and the Raiders kick things off on Wednesday night with a game against each other on the Huskies' regular home field. Then Simon Fraser joins the party for two nights inside the Dempsey Center Friday and Saturday nights. For Tech this marks not only a first trip to the Northwest, but also three straight games against opponents the Raiders have never faced. Rhode Island made its first HIT appearance in '05, when the Rams lost to Washington 14-9; to Simon Fraser in a 14-13 overtime heartbreaker; and finally 12-6 to Oregon State. Despite the 0-3 record, URI finished strong in the UW game and then battled the Clansmen, of course, evenly in the first HIT game to go beyond the regulation sixty-minutes. Then in the 3rd annual last year, Minnesota-Duluth, Utah and Cal-Poly played THREE overtime games amongst themselves, each game better than the one before it. The HIT has had some truly great games in its three year history, and we all are really looking forward to some great lacrosse again this week. The men of Washington welcome the Raiders, Rams and Clansmen, and hope those of you PNCLLers who are free will come to Seattle and join our party. All are welcome.

Of course many of you will be playing games of your own! I'll be back to preview the big B Division action here tomorrow, and Ol' Whatshizname may stop by to share some insights on the A games in Seattle and Boise, if the moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter aligns with Mars, that is...

Both Oregon and Oregon State will be playing Boise St. in Bend, OR on Saturday and Sunday. Should be fun because Bend has just added four high school lacrosse programs.

Two biggest games this weekend have to come from the B division. The first is the "Extreme I-5 Game" where Western Washington takes on Southern Oregon in Ashland. The four leading scorers in the league go at it and this game could be a preview to a semi final playoff game. The second is when Albertson visits Western Oregon. Both teams are 3-1 in league and this game could decide who gets that 5th or 6th seed in the playoffs. More exciting storyline is that the B divisions best defense, Western Oregon at 5.75 ppg, takes on the B divisions best offence, Albertson at 15.75 ppg. Should be two good games this weekend.

Texas Tech 6, Washington 4 with :17 left in the first period. I guess UW called a timeout with :30 seconds left and ran a really nice play to get their fourth goal.

Start of the 2nd period, 6-4 Texas Tech. I guess it's about 90 degrees inside Dempsey Indoor on a gorgeous day in Seattle. The bay doors are open on the arena tying to cool things off. . .
