st. andrews (FL) 13
McDonogh (MD, MIAA A) 10
St. Andrews 5
Boys Latin (MD, MIAA A) 8
St. Andrews is the perennial state champ down here, but lost earlier this season to Lake Brantley (Altamonte Springs, FL)
McDonogh and BL are #6 and #3 respectively in the (Nation) STX/Inside Lacrosse preseason poll.
Obviously preseason polls are not good for much...but hats off to St. Andrews.
interesting hs scores from FL

The McDonogh win is solid, especially with the year that mcDonogh just had. BL is a whole different animal. They are a garunteed solid team year-in and year-out. McDonogh is always good, but they have a little more ups and downs compared to other MIAA-A teams. 8 to 5 is a great score and very respectable.

and St. Andrews was without the use of their sophomores (class trip) which included their starting goalie (who started as a freshman last year)

Did Both MCD and BL play their full squads?
yes, it was the first couple reg season games for each. listed on all involved teams schedules as games. miaa teams have been kicking off their season in fl for a few years now....usually resulting in lopsided scores.

I also know McD was playing 5 games in 5 days. Still an impressive series of wins for any team more south than NoVa especially under their circumstances.

St Andrew's has been attracting quality Northern opponents since before my High School team from Maryland (St. James) spent every Spring Break there twenty years ago (God, I'm old).
It was a great place to warm up for our regular season. We also played local teams Pinecrest, Pope John Paul, Palmetto (I think), and West Palm Beach Academy. Additionally, we got games against other Northern teams like Choate, Perkiomen, Hill School, etc. The only downside was that it always snowed at least once after we got home...awful after chillin' on the beach.
It's great to see that scoring gap closing up, and beating a perennially solid team like McDonough is HUGE!

Lassiter (GA) 9
would like to see more FL/GA HS lax crossing over.
2nd loss in a row for Lassiter. Before they left for their spring break trip, they lost at Wesminster 7 - 4 last Thursday evening. From what I heard, they were down the entire game.
