Don't forget about our other goalie, Chris Moore. I wasn't there, but I heard he showed some amazing stuff against Western and UNC at the Trick or Treat Tournament in Stone's absence last weekend.
And Stolley, I don't know what you mean about Stone getting drilled 9,000 times. I seen his cat-like reflexes stuff some people like 9,000 times.

Moore did make some good saves but he also missed some easy shots, but I do have to say stone is very overated, as for Guzman he has his days many weak mens clubs teams have walked all over him, UNC and METRO have the best netminders when you see them play stats only go so far.

Well, apparently this discussion has been up since October, but I just read it, so here's a reply:
If I get drilled 9,000 times a game, then that means I make 9,000 saves....Correct?
It doesn't matter if it goes in my stick or not... So really, if I'm getting drilled 9,000 times a game, then:
A) I'm stepping in front of the ball and making the save.
B) Whoever is shooting, can't aim for the net and really should be commenting on their own skills.
C) Since you play for Fort Lewis, then I assume you've only seen me play against Fort Lewis, so shouldn't you guys be out practicing?
Just an observation. But, hey. If I'm overratted and didn't deserve a First-Team All-America Award, then I'll just have to try harder next time. Have a nice day.
(No offense to Fort Lewis- I've got a lot of respect for you guys.)

The metro goalie is solid, and a pretty chill guy unless you try to break his arm in a summer game

WHEN A SAVE COUNTS and WHEN IT DOESN'T COUNT...
NEW SUBJECT:
I'm gonna go ahead and put this out there:
Looking through some conference games (In A and B) and such, I see that some goalies are getting more saves than the other team shot, or getting saves=shots-goals. Maybe its just the stat guy's fault. I don't know.
I'm not pointing fingers at guys trying to boost percentages or anything. I could care less if that's what you're doing. If you want to have the top percentage in the League, go for it. -- I just want to make sure that everyone is marking saves in the same way.
****A shot is an attempt to score a goal and is not a deliberate pass.
****A goal is a goal.
****A save is when a goalie comes in contact with a shot (that is on-net) and deflects or stops it. (**This means the shot would have been a goal had the goalie not been present.**)
****A save is NOT an intercepted pass from the GLE or behind the net.
****A save is NOT a deflection of a shot if the ball clearly wasn't going in anyway.
****A save is NOT a shot that missed the net by ten feet.
****It's up to you if: Team A Goalie chucks the ball across field and it rolls to Team B goalie and he stops it. Technically, it would have been a goal had the goalie not been there, so maybe it is a save....up to you.
Just wanted to put that out there. There has been no formal talk of it, and I don't believe its in the rule book. This is how I know the game works. And this is how I've kept stats for years, including last year.
So, let me know, because I'm just trying to keep the playing field square, because I'm sure there's some guys keeping stats accurate and fair and others who only care about online comparisons. And if you're one of those guys, no one cares that much...

so this problem didnt die with mase...
The problem with CSM over-recording saves did die with Mace, but that phenomena may still exist with other teams. I haven't cared to check on other teams, I just know we have honest stat keepers.

Ok- "TheDude" I'm trying to correct other people's mistakes in case they made them intentionally or not.
Don't give me any talk about Mace at this school. He's a wierd character at that, but he left before I even got here. I don't know him. I never knew him. We keep accurate stats for everyone on the team.
Let's take last year's stats for UNC vs. UCIrvine. UNC Won 12-9- Congratulations- UNFORTUNATELY- UCIrvine took 24 shots and UNC's goalies combined allowed 9 goals and got 17 saves. 9+17=26. Wow! Two miraculous saves came out of no where!
Now you might be thinking this Mike Stone's crazy, but let's take UNC vs. Mines last year. Mines lost it 7-12 with my record for that game being 12 GA and 27 saves. 12+27=39on goal shots. UNC recorded 33 shots total. Well, that would make Mines look like liars, except we have the game on tape and you can count every save and goal. It would appear that there's some inaccurate stats for UNC again- Interesting.
In 2005, when UNC played Mont. St. and lost 2-20, UNC simply doesn't have any stats therefore, not hurting percentages. And when UNC played CU-Boulder, a Club A team, their goalie was 50% on the day with 19 GA and 20 saves. Maybe he's just that good, I don't know. But- then again, when UNC played Mines in '04 UNC took 59 shots and Chris Mace combined for 35 saves and 24 goals allowed.
So, Yes, Mace obviously changed stats. But Mines as a whole does not. Start looking at yourself before you throw stones "former coach of UNC".
As to the original topic, I'm going to go look in the rule book- Thanks Sonny.

Stone,
Slow down chief.
I didn't apply the "problem" to Mines or any other school I was poking fun at Mase personally.
The major problem with any league through out the MCLA is the lack of a consistent statistics reporting system. Some schools are good and some are bad. If they were all accurate and fair then the poll voting would be too. Look into ANY teams stats and you will find incongruities and errors.
It needs to be addressed at the the national level and consequences must be given.
So, your points are valid but chill out! Its just club ball after all.

I agree with your lack of consistancy comment. And in the way you wrote before, I assumed you were poking fun at me/Mines, saying that all their goalies cheat on stats, etc.- so you can see why I wrote what I did.
Also, I'm cool with not chilling out, because it IS club ball and if you think its JUST Club ball, then you're missing out. There's a lot of guys who love the sport and play JUST club because they didn't want to go Div 1, 2 or 3 where lacrosse is literally a job.

you guys are way off topic. for 07 season i say corey hewerd uvsc all around great goal tender the heart and soul uvsc's team. and i have to say this year has been a bad year for goalies like byu's chucky powers tearing he acl for the 2nd year in a row and i know at least 3 other goalies have been seriously hurt this year, the worst would be csu goalie which ruptured a testicle from a shot.

At this point, I'd still say its a toss up- goalies ARE dropping like flies, but at the same time, replacements are either not showing much or are WAY better than the incumbent. There's still half a season left.

you guys are way off topic. for 07 season i say the A div would be jaxton evans for usu hes been avg over 20 saves a game
Is anybody else creeped out by the third person bragging or " campaigning for All-Conference votes" I mean i've seen "campaigning" before but not in the third person.... I think the stats and skills talk for you ego can blur a great players vision. It also loses you alot of respect amongst peers and the "industry" or sport. (ala Chris mace or other "attackman from the fort")
The best advice I would say is keep giving great games and yes even on losing teams it's noticed.
