That's a shame. Hopefully, OSU can pick up the pieces the rest of the season.

Went through this recently on the SELC board, but everyone should know that one team cannot forfeit to another. Forfeits don't happen unless the two teams are present and the officials have taken charge of the game. Reasons could be: a team running out of players during the game, excessive unsportsmanlike conduct by one of the teams or the home crowd, use of ineligible players discovered after the fact (thereby changing the result to forfeit)...things like that.

The MCLA plays by NCAA rules.

From the NCAA rulebook page 31: Rule 3, Section 8:
An institution shall not, for statistical purposes, declare a forfeit for nonfulfillment of a contract. Such instances shall be considered a "no contest."

Just to clarify, a team that cancels a game, for any reason, does not forfeit. Neither team should count the game as a win or a loss. It's recorded as a "no contest."

Your conference may have administrative penalties for a team that cancels a game. In fact, they should. Your other recourse is to make sure you vote accordingly at conference meetings when teams apply that are at all marginal.

Well, by technicality then, I guess its a no contest. But OSU are the ones who cancelled, not Tech.

Too bad we only heard of this a day before the game.

And the officials were within an hour of beginning the 6 hour, 300+ mile drive. It may have been late, but at least OSU called when they did or it would have been an expensive cancellation.

The OSU guys are dealing with a change in leadership midseason and terribly small numbers. Not to make excuses for them, but give the new president some time to turn things around for that program.

Jake is now the starting LSM and McDunna is full time goalie.

Don't get me wrong Jake is a seasoned first team all conference goalie 3yrs running, but Southwestern needs his leadership on the face-off and defense. He is too athletic to be playing goal (he is just better as a field player not saying that goalies are not athletic). McDunna is an amazing goalie. The two goalie system for Southwestern would be a waste of talent.

Yeah no bad blood or anything. I talked to the new president earlier and he explained their situation. I just hope they can get thier organization back together and avoid any unfortunate sitatuations such as this in the future.

Guess it's an extra day of practice for us. Good luck to them with the rest of thier season, and good luck to all the LSA teams playing this week.

For everyone on Spring break, have some fun!

Did Brad Nichols Quit? I was talking to Dusty Booth (former OSU head coach) today at the end of our game and rumor has it that he stepped down and quit the team all together...anyone else here anything on this to verify?

I really hope this isn't the case. I know Brad Personally....very good guy and works his ass off for his team.

I'm shocked OSU Cancelled though...what a blow to the sport in our state

I don't think he quit the team, just the leadership role...thats what I was led to believe.

Good job Southwestern going 2-1 on the road in OOC games this weekend.

Any word from Texas playing out in California?

LSU defeats Tulane 8-7 in Ocean Springs, MS.

Tulane went up early, but a steadily improving Tiger D didn't allow more than a 3 goal lead for Tulane. Halftime score, 6-4 Tulane. Tigers regroup at half with a 3rd quarter shutout on the Tulane offense, despite a very aggressive EMO. Game ends in a very dramatic fashion with a looseball scrum in front of LSU's crease, but the Tigers were able to hold on. Thanks Tulane for a well-fought game. Good luck with your season.
