How do you like this for a NCAA basketball uniform?

Some of you young guys don't remember NC State's unitard. Coach Jim Valvano had them wear this uni for only 2 games back in the late 80's.

My son looked at the picture and asked me who the guy was. I said that is the model wearing those uniforms. He knew that I was on CollegeLax when he asked me if that is for lacrosse. I looked at him and said, "No, that is for basketball."

Would you guys be wearing those uni's for lax???

I think the uniforms look pretty cool actually, although I agree the shorts are a bit much. I guess it boils down to how the players feel about them for performance and comfort.

The guy in that picture is PG Chris Corchiani, part of NC State's great backcourt duo called "Fire and Ice" with SG Rodney Monroe. He is a pretty good player in his day and scored a ton of points for the Wolfpack. He had set the NCAA career assist record when he left campus.

You can dress them anyway you like. It is still "the hood" look and the game is getting closer to street ball everyday. It's about promoting the stars, no matter the attitude and personality. Between the uniforms, the tattoos, the hair, and the style of play, it is no longer a team sport when trying to put butts in the seats. It is focused on the stars

I am interested to know what sport doesn't use its stars to "put butts in the seats." No offence but using "the hood" as a descriptor is a little... just not... fair. A couple of friends of mine wear XXL shorts that in your definition would make them "hood" looking, and they are anything but.

I will admit the uniforms are just a little big in the shorts for my style though.

The NFL has always promoted its teams and organizations rather than the players. Its also harder to do it with the players wear layers of plastic that covers their face, head, and entire body.

that being said, NFL players have had no problem getting themselves into TV ads and sponsorships because of the popularity of the league and the fact that media scrambles around like lap dawgs around the players with multiple reporters assigned to each team in the league.

And the NFL doesn't change the rules of the game to promote one on one "look at me, I have the ball and no one else matters in this play" (T.O. does it on his own). And while baseball does have a serious "look the other way" attitude, it is still the same family game and hasn't changed (other than the DH).

I would be happy to have my kids listen to, and learn from, MOST football and baseball players. While there are obviously some good people in basketball, I think that percentage is much lower when compared to other professional sports.

i can't stand it when old people whine about the state of sports. especially basketball. the problem with the nba is that is is a league made up of young guys from urban areas catering to old white people that are out of touch with "now." every generation is different. my grandparents thought my parent's clothing styles were "dangerous" and my parents think mine are ridiculous. it's kids that start trends. as you get older, quite frankly, the lamer you get.

if basketball was the same today as yesteryear, we'd be watching a bunch of unathletic white guys without much handle putting up layups and shooting jump shots from where the 3 point arc should be but isn't because it wouldn't exist. there wouldn't be any defense played either. if you think nba players can't shoot, go watch a practice. better defense is played now-a-days.

i'm not advocating violent behavior or anything, but dribbling between your tattooed legs and wearing baggy shorts is hardly a "hood" quality. call me when someone flashes westside when they accept the mvp award and crip walk away from the podium. that's a "hood" quality.

Dont forget head bands and arm bands. Those kids in Saved by the Bell started that "Buddy Bands" business and there was corruption....fights...etc etc etc.
