New 2007 Gear

Yeah, just broke my Clutch last week. So much for that. The holes on the bottom of my head cracked and the bottom string came out. Caught a hard pass and it just snapped. I really though this head was a lot stronger. Hopefully just a dud in my case.

Bulldoglaxer - I thought the head (from what I have been told) was extremely stiff and sturdy. Was yours more flexible or was it so stiff there was no give (i.e. catching a hard pass and it breaking)?

The Clutch looks like Brine's equivalent to the Evo/Revo Pro. Would that be a fair statement? I'm looking at a Clutch but only if similar to the Evo Pro (what I currently use).

I have both a Clutch and an Evo Pro. The Clutch is more similar to a Razer Pro than an Evo. The Clutch is a longer head...while the Evo is shorter.

Well stiffer doesn't mean it will necessarily last longer... There's no give, no flexibility. No bend before it breaks, it just breaks. That doesn't mean it's a bad head, but we haven't had any luck with stiff heads for poke checks over the last few years...

The side walls and everything are real stiff, I just caught a pass in practice and I saw the bottom of my head came undone, figured a knot went through the hole (happens with my Motive). Took a closer look and the two inner holes actually cracked. I think it's a freak accident to be honest, I'm really surprised it cracked there.

I was impressed with it up to that point, I'm sending it back and gettiner another. I don't think that should happen again.

BYU Alum:

Alot of our guys have decided to not use the Serpent because it is too good looking - most of them coach youth ball during the summer and are planning on it being their coaching stick (an affliction I think they acquired from their head coach - my wife has yet to understand why I need a new dyed head each spring for coaching). But they all like it's "feel" and weight.

My son continues to use his in youth and loves it. Light, balanced, cool, and strong. And not too expensive, although certainly much more than a basic aluminum pole.
