The UW/SFU score was very representative of the game UW simply took it to them. SFU certainly wasnt anywhere near top form but the huskies made sure they capitalized playing solid defense not allowing sfu to even attempt a comeback and making nice feeds to open shots in front of sfus crease. It should be interesting: A) to see how UW builds on this huge victory. B) how sfu handles the loss. C) to see if Oregon or anyone else can take advantage of this situation.

SFU vs UW

Postby RavenFan on Sun Mar 06, 2005 4:34 pm

I watched the game and have to give credit to the Huskies. Their defence was there when it needed to be but it was their offense and their ride that took the game over. SFU defence looked like they didn't want to play, watching UW pass the ball around and take their chances at their leisure. Absolutely no pressure, no intensity from the SFU D. When they did get the ball away from UW, a combination of a great ride from UW and a terrible clear from SFU kept the ball in the clans end for over 3/4 of the game (easily).

The defence should rebound easy, as it seemed that they just didn't get up for the game and were flat footed and not into it. If SFU does not fix their clear they could be in for some trouble.

How does UPS defeating WWU affect out the seeding for the playoffs. With PLU beating Linfield, being 2-0 against WWU, losing to UPS, and UPS beating WWU today - where do each of these teams stand in the grand scheme of things?

There's a long way to go Matt.... Western could still be the Division winner.... I am curious what it will do for B rankings, not that they have a huge impact this year, but I'm still curious. Western lost two tough games this weekend, but either could have gone their way with a few other bounces.

I don't think the Huskies have a lot to say. If I were to get on here and talk about how good my team was, we would look bad, and I would look like even more of an a**. 14-2 doesn't have too many details that weren't in the game report at the pncll page. Sounds to me like SFU just wasn't ready for a UW team firing on all cylinders, and I mean no offense to SFU, they ARE a great team. As you know, anyone can beat anyone on any given day, unfortuneately for SFU, the Clan and the Ducks have the biggest targets on their backs.

UW Game Report from pncll.com
Simply the biggest win for Husky Lacrosse since the club was founded over thirty years ago. Eli Sonkin scored five goals and added two assists to lead the offense, while Freshman Goalie Tony Maack recorded a season-high 15 saves behind a defense which shut-out SFU for the first fifty minutes of play. Weitz and Steinecker had hat tricks, Sangeorzan had two and one and Riley added a goal and three assists. The long-poles and defensive middies were all absolutely tremendous, individually and collectively as a unit. I'm so proud of these guys I probably won't sleep a wink tonight. And I am so proud of and happy for Dejon Hush, who hopefully will start getting mentioned as one of the best Head Coaches in the MDIA. We were prepared to play tonight, and one man deserves the credit. Thanks for hosting us SFU, and good luck next week in Cal. See you for the Husky Indoor Tourney in a couple weeks.

Montana 9
Central Washington 4

Montana grabs the reins in B-East from CWU and WC. Central loves 9-4 scores, as evidenced by the fact they won and lost by that same score this weekend. Whitman serves notice that they are still a factor by tossing a bagel at AC.

Congrats to Southern Oregon on their first PNCLL/MDIA victory, joining WOU in the winner's circle. With Linfield no longer unbeaten, can the Wolves mount a challenge to LC for the B-South title?

UPS solidifies its hold over the B-North, while PLU notches two impressive wins of its own. WWU competes tough but comes away with two losses, the second one in triple o.t.

sfu vs uw

Postby lacrossefan on Mon Mar 07, 2005 12:04 am

I'm a SFU fan but I have to admit that I wish I wasn't on saturday. SFU just looked horrible. They came out flat and UW took advantage of it. SFU was asleep the whole game and never once woke up. Hats off to the huskies for winning the game, they are a decent team. UW embarassed a SFU team that probably overlooked them. They looked like they didn't even care at all.
Sfu also changed goalies halfway thru and I think 2 starting d-poles did not play.
I didn't stick around long after the game but I bet the players got in big crap. As I left the coaches were running those kids into the ground.
Let's hope the Clan can come back from this ugly loss.
I heard they played well in Eugene. But they need to play well against every team and not just against the Oregons or Chicos or they will be in big trouble. Didnt the same thing almost happen with OSU? ( i wasn't there for that game)
This is on heck of a reality check for SFU
Good luck to both teams this season.

PS/ what happened to the old pncll forum!?? this new stuff is too hightech for me! :)

The B division has been very interesting so far. . .

#15B UPS has defeated #14B WWU and #8B PLU, but lost to #19B Linfield.

#8B PLU has defeated #14B WWU twice and #19B Linfield, but lost to #15B UPS.

#25B Montana has pretty much beat everyone in the B division they've played, including Whitman (who was ranked at the time) - but they have no wins against current top-25 teams.

#19B Linfield is 6-1 with a win over #15B UPS, but lost today to #8B PLU.

. . .in other words, this thing is WIDE open and should be a lot of fun.
