1) Anyone know how to convert home DVD movies to AVI? Like so you can put it on your Ipod? I really don't want to buy software (would like freeware), but I will buy if needed.
2) Does anyone know if you can hook your ipod video up to your TV?

I can answer question number two. There is a product that puts out a wireless signal to your tv. You place the tv on video 1 or 2 and it will display what is on you ipod. Also, there is a remote that comes with the system and a menu which can be utilized with the included remote. Some of the advatages for us were that we utilized our surround sound and if we are playing music throughout the house we probably don't have the TV on. The remote is a nice feature. This package is about $125 to $150. There is a cheaper version for about $75 bucks, but you have to use our ipod to control outputs and you don't get the on TV display.

for #1...How I put DVD's onto my video Ipod uses all freeware, but takes a little bit of a long time.
1) First I use FairUse Wizard 2 (http://www.fairusewizard.com/lang_en/fa ... ition.html) to burn DVD onto my computer. This puts the movie into a .wmv form, but you need it in an .mov form to get onto ipod.
2) For this problem i use Super C (http://www.erightsoft.net/SUPER.html#Dnload) which converts the wmv to the mov.
3) Once i got this done, I drag the .mov into itunes' movie tab, and then you have to right click the file and then click "convert selection to ipod"
once all three of these are complete, the movie works fine. Like i said, only problem to this is it'll take 3-4 hours to do a movie, so need some time set aside. Good luck

For converting i would recomend VIDEORA. It's a free program that will take your current files and put it into the ipod format. It's pretty easy to use and the link will take you straight to the download:

also you can get a $20 cable from any electronic retailer that will let you watch your ipod videos on t.v. I use it on all our away games for those boring down times in the hotel. Link below is to the cable via bestbuy.com

Hey I forgot to mention you need to download "smart ripper" first before using "videora". The reason for this is that Smart ripper will take the video off of the dvd and onto the hard drive. Then Videora will convert it to the ipod format. This link will take you to the smart ripper download page. Let me know if you have any questions.
