I was at the UGA/UF game.......
Both teams were pretty jacked up with energy from playing under the lights in front of at least 300 spectators. And this led to a VERY physical game. This game was a tail of two halfs.......A slow start for UGA hurt them in the first half as UF scored 2 quick goals and UGA struggled to clear the ball and UF dominated the faceoff in the first half along with possession. UF made it very difficult for UGA to get anything going in the first quarter as they did a good job riding the clears and possessing the ball. I think the score was 4-2 in favor of UF at the end of the first quarter. Towards the end of the second quarter UGA finally began to settle down and fought their way back into the game by cutting the lead down to 1 as UF led 5-4 at halftime.
Then UGA turned it on in the 3rd quarter and took their first lead of the game, 6-5 at the end of 3 in favor of UGA. UGA did a much better job of clearing the ball and won a few faceoffs in the second half as they also had possession the majority of the 2nd half. I wish i could see some stats because UGA definitly took more shots and unfortunatly for them they hit a lot of pipes. But my hat goes off to UF's goalie as he probably had one of the best games of his career recording a lot of tough saves to keep his team in the game. Anyways, both teams traded goals as UF tied it up at 6-6 and it was 7-7 with about 5 minutes to go in the game. UGA had some good opportunities in the last 5 min. of the game along with the final possession and shot of regulation but UF's goalie came up big recording a few saves at the end of the regulation. So it went to Overtime and UF won the faceoff and after some big physical play to start the OT, UF settled down and scored game winning goal in the first minute or two of OT.
I'm sure my analysis of the game seemed bias but its what I observed throughout the game and I'm sure the stats will back up my analysis. I really hope these teams meet again in the SELC tourney because it was a great game with a lot of intensity and a very high level of lacrosse which made it fun to watch.

That and Emory's coach Dave Reed has done a great job and has had time to implement a working system there.

FSU was up 13-7 with 7 minutes left in the 4th. Halftime score was 5-3 FSU.
Some thoughts on the game:
-FSU is a very quick team, great on transition
-VT seemed nervous to start off the game
-VT didn't do well on clears, in part due to FSU's ride
-FSU seemed to win every faceoff
-FSU didn't shoot the ball well (or else the game would have been out of hand), alot of close in shots that either missed the cage or hit the goalie in the chest
-Good sized crowd of FSU supporters
-Thought FSU was gonna let VT back in the game in the 3rd period after taking penalty after penalty.
-$10 to park, "but admission is free"...a little steep for me...the joys of having the game at a private high school.
