PNCLL Alumni Team - Victoria Tournament

Postby Kyle Berggren on Fri Mar 04, 2005 9:26 pm

Talked to Henderson today, he said he's in...

Why not wear All-Star Jerseys.... Does everyone have a white? Aaron has 2 whites.

Jerseys, Hotels, Shorty?????

Postby neil on Sat Mar 05, 2005 6:17 pm

Reed-
Hotel- The Strathcona is where I have stayed in the past- its right in the heart of downtown and above two of the best hot spots in town- the Sticky Wicket and Legegnds Night Club (for those of you ready to get your freak on the dance floor, remember legal age is 19, but all the girls look 17). The rates are good there and its in a good central location.

Uniforms
Does everyone still have their PNCLL All-Star jerseys? I'd be pretty sweet if we all wore our vintage All Star wear- only problem is that some I guess would be white and some blue. Just a thought.

Montag- You want to play shorty?

Its a very safe bet the tourney will be over the same holiday (Civic is it? I thought it was Victoria Day or something but I don't know)- it has been the last three years. Since it is a three day weekend, hotel reservations need to be made pretty early, and be sure to make reservations for the Vancouver/Victoria ferry too cause that sells out and every year people end up missing the boat and getting a hotel room in Vancouver.

i can play wherever. i'd be best at keeper, then pole; but if the numbers don't work out, i can play shorty IF need be.

if we get matt johnson or dylan, they'd prob be better, so i would just fill in where we were lacking, but i'd prefer cage if i could.

Wow, I think we almost forgot two SFU guys:

Anthen Yuen http://www.anaheimstorm.com/article.asp?id=1724

and Ricky Clark. Anyone know how to get ahold of these guys?

I talked to Athen yesterday. He played on the team that won the tourney two years ago, but they couldn't field a team last year because of box lacrosse playoffs. He told me that if his team enters a team this year, he'll have to play with them, but if they don't, and he's not in box playoffs at the time, he'd definitely be interested in playing for a PNCLL team.

Would a PNCLL Alumni coach (Gonzaga 2000-2002) be elligable to play? If so, I'd love to join in. In regards to my play, I'd have to defer to Neil B. Matt M. or Chris S. as to my skills being beneficial enough for this team. I'm older and slower than I'd like to be , but I think I could contribute. Cheers to the idea.

I talked to Matt Johnson and Aiden Ball tonight. They said that unless something unforseen comes up, they are both in for Summer Slam.

I really thought Aiden Ball was underrated... He was one of the few defenders that just played good body, and didn't try to take it away every time. He was really tough to ISO on, glad to hear those guys are interested....

Unlike coaches Montag and Derrickson from Gonzaga. . .I have NO desire to play. . .but if the dates work out (baby due 1st week in August) I'd definitely be willing to come up with you boys and coach.

James, I know you have the skills to play with this group - I've seen you in action. Don't worry about slow and old, there will be plenty of young men to do the running for you.

Reed, put me down as middie. I can run pole, but think I will be more effective running as a middie. As far as a PNCLL jersey goes, the only white one I have is a big, old, football practice jersey that we got in 2002. I won't wear that one because it looks hideous and I want to look good when I play. 8)

What is the exact date of the tournament?

I would really like to play, but you will have to excuse my ignorance, because I really don't know much about the tournament. Can anyone give my some more specifics, such as dates, cost, etc. Also, my knee is still pretty messed up. This is the longest I've gone without playing lacrosse, and I am starting to go nuts though. Again, if someone could let me know some more specifics that would be great. I thought I also read something about Matt Johnson maybe playing. He might be a better fit if he is up in the area already. Playing on a team like this sounds pretty sweet though.

Josh, I think I can speak for every attackman in the PNCLL over the past 4 years when I say this:

You are only invited if you promise not to bring that stick with the hideous orange mesh.
