1-2
a 1-2 record gets you not only a #12 ranking but ahead of one of the teams you lost to. brilliant.

As much as i hate complaining about the polls, have to say AO is right. Although Utah has the same complaint. Just looking at the head-2-head matchups between the 4 teams, it seems like a more logical order for the 10-13 teams would be the following:
10. ASU
11. Utah
12. UCSB
13. Cal Poly
My only guess is the pollsters were looking at the fact that ASU won by "only" a goal at home. Who knows. It will all work itself out as the season goes on.

Don't feel bad AO. That same No. 12 team is 2 spots behind the team they beat by 3 goals three days ago.

I'm pretty impressed with this poll. Everyone looks to be in the right place. Teams that "deserve" to be higher will definitely make a slow move to the top. If they continue to play well (even after teams have gotten the rust off) they will climb. As for ASU, a 6 spot jump is quite large. I would be happy with that and hope you can make another 6 spot jump on the next poll. I also have to say that it is a little odd to see some of these teams out of the top 4 since they have been there for the last 8 years or so, but I don't disagree with it.

Why should ASU be happy with a 6 spot jump from a PRE-SEASON poll? This has been discussed in other places, but they were apparently underrated in the pre-season poll (based on current results anyways). Why should this hurt them in a poll based on actual results from the season? This is why some people hate pre-season polls. If there wasn't a pre-season poll, I doubt ASU would be behind Utah, and for that matter, that Utah would be behind UCSB. I do agree however, that if ASU keeps their level of play up, the polls will eventually reflect it properly.

I am actually surprised to see some of the WCLL teams rated as highly as they were. I expected to see the highest rating to come in at around #8 and the others out of the Top 10. It's a long season and these things will all sort out. Keep in mind that where your team is rated right now really doesn't mean squat. The only one that means something is the last poll. By then, there will be enough information on all teams to get their relative positions right as our voters have consistently done in the past.

Catlax, why is it so surprising to see the WCLL so high? I think the WCLL and the RMLC are the two best conferences in the league and with the amount of games scheduled between the two, there are some great matchups and it is only fair to have those teams rated higher.

Every team should have to earn their ranking based on their play, not their reputation. Based on the early season results, the WCLL teams should be a bit lower. I think some teams are getting reputation votes, which is normal this early in the season.

Unless I'm way off base here, the point he's trying to make is that to this point, Florida and FSU have had almost identical results in their schedules, yet FSU is rated significantly higher than Florida.
In my personal poll, I had FSU a bit lower, but Florida much closer to them. I think the past season should be a factor, but the weight it's given is personal preference (I choose only a little weight).
