Army over #2 Syracuse
I just finished watching this game on SKY network. Great defensive effort by Army to pull off an 8-6 victory! I was at the West Point campus this week to watch a practice and was blown away at what an amazing school West Point is.

This is a huge win for Army and for the Patriot League in general. The result of this game can be considered no less shocking as Drexel over UVA. Everyone expects Navy to be good year in and year but for Army to go into the Carrier Dome and handle the 'Cuse demonstrates a strengthening in the conference that can't be underestimated. Rising compeition in the league will only benefit schools like Colgate, Bucknell, and Lehigh who have all seemed at various times in recent years to be on the cusp of breaking through to the elite. Army always had the best conditioned team in the League but because of their strict admissions and the nature of a military institution didn't necessarily always have the best players. Well, you don't beat Syracuse at home through conditioning alone. We are watching the levelling of the playing field in NCAA lacrosse and it is a great thing for the game.
Conversely, Syracuse had a rough start last year as well so it would be foolish to count them out. I believe they were 1-4 last year before rallying and ending up in the tournament. However, as evidenced by this game and Drexel/UVA the days of a "superior" team lacing them up and winning by just showing up are over...even at home.
