To some extent, this occurred at my high school as well, however, since my school offered boy's soccer (and the defensive line coach was the boy's soccer head coach) many of us played soccer in the spring. Lacrosse wasn't offered in my area. I first started playing in college.

Kyle Harrison has stated in many interviews that he was able to be successful in lacrosse because he was a multi-sport athlete growing up. It's a shame hearing kids say that they wished they had played football or basketball growing up but they had too much of a time commitment wrapped up in their select soccer club. Kids should play as many sports that they can and enjoy all that their high school athletic departments have to offer. Let's face it. Very few will ever make a career of sports and fewer still will make one playing the sport.

I remember being frustrated in high school because in Texas it is all about football 24/7! I played football and ran track, but when I decided to take up lacrosse, it was pure evil in the eyes of our coaches. Forget the fact that we were in as good or better shape than other football players who did nothing but football... Im glad lax is growing at the pace it is down here, the only problem is we need more coaches and positive influences around to teach the game instead of having "football players" come out and think it is just a hit fest and keeping the sport from growing like it needs to. Maybe one day ADs will wise up and give lacrosse players a chance at their high schools, but then again maybe there will be peace in the middle east one day... sarcasm noted!

True true true. High school football coaches are so territorial that they think whenever someone picks up another sport that they're done....unless it's baseball or track. Lacrosse running is that mix of short and long distance that football can certainly benefit from.

Now if I were a high school football coach what I would be worried about isnt my guys playing other sports. But moreso my guys realizing that their chances of playing college lacrosse (varsity or non) are a whole lot greater than even making an average college team as a mere walk on...let alone getting a scholarship.
Barry Badrinath: Oh man, that's the most disgusting thing I've ever drank.
Landfill: I doubt that very much, playboy
