So, the NFL said that there would be no tailgating within one mile of the stadium? I'd like to see how that'll be enforced. It sounds like the newspaper is saying "Its just the NFL, you can still tailgate off-property".

There is no law prohibiting tailgating outside of the stadium property.

I am curious how the NFL can mandate this if there is no law in place and have the police enforce it? Is the NFL paying the police for the added resources to enforce this? How can they mandate no tailgating within one-mile of the stadium? This whole thing sounds absurd.

Tailgaiting is the downfall of football.

The sport has been tainted for far too many years with people doing unmanly things like drinking beer, cooking meat on an open flame, throwing a football around, talking about hot chicks/cars/cursing the name "Spurrier". And you call yourself men...you all disgust me.

I'd be willing to bet that they are only talking about tailgating in the official Dolphin Stadium lots. (DS is surrounded by plenty of large parking lots controlled by the team.)

I'm not sure how the NFL could/would control tailgating on private parking lots nearby Dolphins Stadium for SB 41.

The property is owned by the Dolphins, which are an NFL team. They can enforce the no tailgating regardless of the law because they own the place. There will be an official tailgate area at the stadium. Those attending the game will still be able to imbibe. The NFL just does not want things to get out of control from a liability and a security standpoint.

I have been in meetings all week about security and other issues down here. The daily briefing is enough to make your head spin. I know this for sure: you have no idea the lengths that the NFL will go to protect their product. Not in a subversive way but the NFL is well aware of who they are, what they have and how much it is worth.

(This is my own opinion and not that of the NFL or any of its subsidiaries.)

Can't help but thinking that a ban on tailgaiting at the Super Bowl is unAmerican, perhaps even unconstitutional.

banning tailgating at a football game is un-American, the Super Bowl being the end all be all of football (supposedly) makes it...I can't even come up with the words for it.
