Historic 2008 Election?

Postby Zeuslax on Sat Jan 20, 2007 4:19 pm

Well, it's official, Hillary Clinton declared and definitely the strongest African American candidate ever is running too; Barack Obama. In addition, one of the most respected senators in Joe Biden has entered the race and Evan Bayh is considering again after saying he isn't running. We can't forget John Edwards and it has been rumored that Tom Vilsack may be interviewing for the job with Edwards. Plus senator Chris Dodd from Connecticut. In an effort to keep this post from getting too long I'll leave some of the descriptions out. There's a few other very strong candidates that were thinking about running, but they may change their minds with the additional big announcement.

Currently the Republicans can't even come close to matching this field, with the candidates that have declared, but they have some strong candidates considering as well. Giuliani, Mitt Romney and McCain for instance are all sitting in the wings.

It's going to be interesting, especially if the Dem's get dirty. That could open the door for a sleeper Republican to slip in. I can even anticipate one of the Democrats switching to an independent. Clinton is a shoe-in to be a front runner, but the timing may be terrible for the country. If she happens to win, she will be attacked relentlessly like we have never seen in this country and I don't think we can afford to be further divided. Especially with the current situations domestically and internationally. Americans are looking for a unitor.

I want to emphasize that this is a rumor that is going around right now that the Hillary Clinton camp wants to carefully check out Barack Obama's religious background, that is, his Muslim heritage. That is coming from reading several sources this morning.

At any rate, the 2008 election is going to very interesting.

I heard a rumor that Barack's REAL name is actually Osama, and that he changed it about 10 years ago. Fox News said that a geneological check on his family tree shows that the he and the other Osama (B.L.) have a common heritage going way back, and that both have ties to Iraq, back when it was Mesopotamia. Supposedly their great, great, great, etc. grandparents were A'Daam and A'ieve.
More news and film at 11.

If Hillary gets the Democratic nomination, it could be a bad situation for the Dems. The pundits maintain that she in unelectable in Middle America and it would give the Republicans a big advantage.

In my opinion, both Obama and Hillary are unelectable. It will be blamed on race and gender but Obama's inexperience and Hillary's divisiveness and reputation will be the real reasons.

Bush had no real experience, yet he got elected.

Wonder which states in the Middle America may vote for Hillary if 2008 is here?

True, and the argument would be that he was governor of one of the largest states in the Union while Obama is a first term Senator with no major legislation bearing his name. Personally, I would not have voted for Bush in a 2000 primary, I was and am a McCain guy.

I really hope Obama gets the Democratic nomination, because I hate Hillary Clinton with a burning passion. I'd have to consider voting Republican if she was the Democratic nominee *shudder*

At least the Republican candidates aren't bad. McCain especially, I like McCain even if he is a bit conservative.

True that, although there is another Illinois politician - I think he served four terms as a rep in the Illinois House, and one term in the US House of Representatives - and was then elected President. He was also intimately involved in leading the country while the military was bogged down in fighting a civil war, and he did OK - gave a few good speeches as I recall...can't remember his name though - he seems to have faded away.

So if Hillary becomes President :( does that mean Bad Boy Billy gets to go to elementary schools and read books to all the kids. I can just imagine him starting a new reading program for college girls!
