New music suggestions

Let's hear them.

I saw +44 last month (Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker of Blink 182 fame's new band), but this band called The Matches opened up for them. I was a fan and bought their CD (Decomposer) at the show.

Dustin Kensrue, lead singer of Thrice, has a new solo album coming out next week which is pretty good. Considering Thrice is a hard rock/"screamo" type band, his solo stuff is folksy/blues/country rock.

That's all I got for now.

The Matches are an awesome band, but their first C.D. "E Von Dahl Killed the Locals" is much better than the new one (IMHO).

If you enjoy the Matches, you should check out "Street To Nowhere". They play with the Matches and toured with The Format this past year.

Everyone should check out Matt Nathanson. Awesome singer/songwriter.

the matches are sick. Im really excited to hear the thrice guys new stuff. I would not suggest the counterpart to +44...tom delong from blink 182's Angels and Airwaves. I mean its not bad....just REALLY EMO.....and every song sounds the exact same. I really like the newer story of the year. The cd is way worth the buy. And if your into the punk stuff Rise Against's new cd is pretty ill.

and in the hip hop scene keep an eye out for mistah fab from the yay area.

untill next time....

+44 >>>>>> Angels and Airwaves

Angels and Airwaves is just horrible. Tom is also the main reason why Blink 182 is no longer a band.

The Matches are great! E. Von Dahl .... is the better album but Decomposuer is solid. Check out One Man Army, they don't have anything 'new' out but still great.... and of course the Lawrence Arms latest release Oh, Calcutta! is worth a listen.

Cartel - Chroma is an emo meets pop sound - very listenable.

Classic Case - Dress To Depress is just a little edgier.

Saw Angels & Airwaves with Taking Back Sunday - the pre-teens liked them. Everyone else made fun of Tom Delong (I believe the most popular suggested band name was Angels & Airhead).

Quietdrive is a sweet new band, they are on NHL 07' and some cheesy A&E commercials for DOG the bounty hunter. good stuff, worth checking out

Cartel is insanely catchy. I have seen them twice in concert now.

Going in February to see them, Cobra Starship (Gabe from Midtown's new band, they did the Snakes on a Plane song), and Boys Like Girls.

Cobra Starship was dissappointing. I mean come on, he was in MIDTOWN!

Karate High School is pretty good, and you have to appreciate the many references both in name and in the lyrics to the Karate Kid movies.

Also check out the Legion of Doom. They don't have any original content, but they do some pretty nice blends and remixes of emo/punk/post-hardcore artists. Most notable is their mix of Raconteurs and Gnarles Barkley, and Dashboard Confessional with Brand New.

Purevolume.com usually has a great listing of new bands, just check out the 'pure picks' or top downloads list. Punknews.org also usually has some pretty good reviews of bands if you're looking for something new.

I will see your punknews.org and raise you absolutepunk.net

They are the reason I know Cartel, The Spill Canvas, All Time Low, Over It and many other decent bands.

Emo. Emo is so horrible, it makes me feel unhappy and melancholy. If only there was a crappy genre of music full of poseurs that I could write a song in to express my feelings about it.

Wow, that NEEDED to be said. How about some non-Emo music suggestions?
