I know that nebraska is not eligible for the div. b playoffs in the grlc, but what is the final word on how their record affects other teams in the grlc div. b? Just wondering

ok. so heres how things roll. Were an A team playing in b. We were accepted to play in the a division last year....they (the nabraska lax team) were not ready. We had a choice to play in the b div or be booted from the league all together. im not agreeing with that the turn out was. however, i do not believe we were ready forthe level that the grlc A divisin presented. Coming from a solid varsity D2 program, nebraska was not ready to jump into div A play. However, in the next few years with the talent we have we should make the run at the title. However, what we should do, and what we will do might be totally dif things. It all depends on how much our team is willing to dedicate to the program, and what we are willing to sacrifice with what we have.

hmmm i guess i just forgot about answering the question mid paragraph. we are a spoiler. That is all. We can bump teams on the verge, into or out of the conference tourney. Were pretty much just playing for pride and to change the common thought that many had about the nebraska lacrosse program. Untill we get back in the a division the only things we can really do is, try to go undefeated, and try to get a few of our players on the all conference list.

Nebraska is an A Division team that has been forced to compete in the B Division for the upcoming 2007 season. Nebraska is not eligible for the GRLC Division B playoffs as is consistent with past GRLC practice. As the GRLC Division B Director, it is now my understanding that due to MCLA rules, no Division A player is eligible for Division B post-season honors. Last year, we allowed players from Memphis and Arkansas (both teams chose to play Division B schedules) to be recognized on the all-conference team. I thought that this was appropriate and fair as both teams competed in the B Division. We have since been informed by the national executive board that it was not proper to have done so.

As long as we choose to participate under the MCLA, we are bound by its rules. And as long as the league retains its arbitrary cutoff for the A Division - B Divison split, I believe that teams like Memphis, Arkansas, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, etc. will be forced to bite the bullet and participate as Division A teams. With South Dakota, North Dakota, North Dakota State (?) and possibly Nebraska-Omaha moving up to Division I-A football in the future, I hope that those lacrosse programs will be able to find a competitive and comfortable compromise. It is unfortunate that Illinois coach A.J. Stevens was unable to find enough support for his proposed Division C. Something we might want to revisit in the future.

So I'm a little unsure of how this works. With South Dakota, North Dakota, and other schools making the jump to Div. 1 This means our lacrosse programs would have to move up to Div. A also. Does it matter that our football programs will be Div. 1AA and not Div. 1 A? We have a couple years before our school makes the transition, so I hope our league can figure stuff out, because I don't know if our school would be able to make the move, mostly for financial reasons.

Under the current MCLA regulations, if your school has a varsity 1-A football team - your lacrosse club is considered MCLA Division A from a national standpoint. If your school offers a 1-AA football team, you are free to compete at whatever MCLA level (Div. A or Div. B) that you and your conference agree upon.

I think that this year's Nebraska team has a lot to play for. Start with respect and go from there. This year's team might not have caused the probelms but it is up to them to change the image of Nebraska lacrosse.

You're exactly right, playing for respect and pride are as important if not more important than playing for accolades.

touche'. I stand corrected, that is the onething we can get. You're right, earning respect from players and the league is something way more important than getting a few players some recognition. Well we have talked the talk its now time to walk the walk. Its 6 days till the season kicks off, and time to prove ourselves. See y'all out there.
