Nothing is going to be calm not only in Iraq, but we will be really paying attention to the situation in Lebanon, Syria and Israel. There are really a lot of chatter going on on the south part of Lebanon (Hizabullah) and north part of Israel as well as along the Golan Heights and the Syria border.
Not only that, we would be looking at the Gaza Strip (Hamas and Fatah battling each other, but it looks like they are "calming" down and focusing their strategy to focus on Israel).
Suppose we get out of Iraq, it would not be surprising that Iran would overtly and covertly control Iraq. Of course, there will be battles between the Shiites and the Sunnis.
Like I saw the movie, Kingdom of Heaven, one Templar commented to Balian, I think, "...the Muslims never forget."

While we are all being sarcastic....
Where is Don King when you need him? Put the "event" on Pay-Per-View and charge everyone $50 a pop. 2/3 of televisions in the US would pay for it. We could pay for the war (and the American Debt) all in one swoop.

Just to show how much this effort is costing us just in money - let's assume there are 100 million households in the US, and EVERYONE of them agreed to pony up the $50 PPV charge. That'll net us us about $5B dollars. Given the current burn rate of about $2B PER WEEK for the war - that'll cover the next 2.5 weeks of non-committal discussion time.
As far as touching the American (National) Debt -
The Outstanding Public Debt as of 29 Dec 2006 at 01:03:56 PM GMT is:
$8,616,728,472,625.14 (A little over $8.6 Trillion (Thousand billion) dollars.
The estimated population of the United States is 300,582,685
so each citizen's share of this debt is $28,666.75.
The National Debt has continued to increase an average of
$1.21 billion per day since September 29, 2006.
So let's raise that PPV price to $50,000 per household and now you're talking.
