accuser is pregnant and might have given birth last night.
Bad News for Duke
As much as her credibility is shot...it could give her sympathy points from the jury.

Could this case get any wierder? I saw this story this morning and I seriously thought it was a joke. Can't wait to see what happens next in the crazy case. Anyone have any ideas? I'm thinking aliens or a KGB conspiracy (they seem to be active again these days, at least in the UK).

According to Wikipedia, it's a surprisingly high 1%.

Considering how accurate DNA testing is, this surprises me.

That is the percent of it being incorrect. So it would be 99% accurate.

I'm glad to see that she's finally settling down and starting a family.

Now she just has to swing by the Maury Show and find out who the dad is.

Sorry, when I was reading the Wikipedia article it was in terms of percent incorrect, and I thought 1% was suprisingly high. But I forgot that I was referencing something out of context. Yes, 99% accurate, which I thought was surprsingly low compared to DNA testing. I suppose there are a lot of added variables there, since you aren't just matching DNA to same DNA, but DNA to offspring DNA, which is probably only going to be on the order of 50% the same since it arises from a combination of maternal and paternal chromosomes.
DNA testing is usually quite a bit higher than 99.99% accurate, I think, but unfortunately juries don't always understand the probability implications. I heard of one case where the guy got off because the jury thought that the "1 in 100 million" or whatever odds meant it was extremely unlikely that the person was the guilty party when in fact it meant the opposite: out of 300 million people in this country, you'd only expect 3 to have DNA markers matching like this, and the guy that we have here—who was accused of the crime before we even looked at the DNA—matches it!

She already had previous children at the time of the alleged rape. She was a single, "working" mom.
What?!?! That is despicable. Those criminals didn't just try to ruin a woman's life, they ripped a family apart.

Huh? You sure are quick to pass judgment on the "criminals" but not the profession of the working (stripper) mom.

DNA TESTS IDENTIFY MEN OTHER THAN DUKE PLAYERS
DNA testing in the Duke lacrosse rape case found genetic material from several men in the accuser's body and her underwear -- but none from any team member, defense attorneys said in court papers yesterday.
The papers were filed by attorneys for the three lacrosse players charged, Reade Seligmann, Collin Finnerty and David Evans. They complained that the information about DNA from other men was not disclosed in a report prosecutors provided earlier this year to the defense.
The testing was conducted at a private laboratory for the prosecution.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The woman at the center of the Duke lacrosse rape case is pregnant and due to give birth any day, roughly nine months after the team party where she says she was raped by three men in a bathroom.
The pregnancy was confirmed late Thursday by a person familiar with the case, speaking to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity. Both Fox News and WRAL-TV in Raleigh reported she gave birth Thursday night.
There had been no prior indication the woman, a 28-year-old college student who already has children, was even pregnant. She has not spoken in public since granting a single interview to the News & Observer of Raleigh shortly after the party.
The person who confirmed the pregnancy to the AP had no information about the father. Defense attorneys have stressed for months that no sex occurred at the party and they have cited DNA testing that found genetic material from several males in the accuser's body and her underwear — but none from any member of the lacrosse team.

Looks like I answered my own question...
The head of a private DNA laboratory said under oath today that he and District Attorney Mike Nifong agreed not to report DNA results favorable to Duke lacrosse players charged with rape.
Head of DNA lab says he and Nifong agreed not to report results
If this isn't grounds for dismissal and prosecutorial misconduct, I don't know what is.
