Defense Shafts

At the Tahoe tourney I saw my teammate break 2 of the ignite D shafts in one game. The one broke in two on a stick check and the other did an "S" bend on what I think was some type of hold. I would say that if you can handle the weight, the Shamrock R705's are the way to go. they can lay the hurt, they're cheap, and never bend. I had one on my back up and one on my game stick. Recently, I've been playing with the Brine SC-21 Scandium that came out last year, and it's light and strong. It's held up without a significant dent on some pretty nasty stick checks through a few touneys and summer ball.

The Gait 803 is really light and sturdy, Im still a fan of my Brine F55...that thing is indestructible.

see im an advocate for the warrior kripto alloy. ive broken a good 3kripto pros, but the alloy flexes, doesnt warp, and ive been playing with the same shaft for 5 years now, its now turned from red to barbie pink, but id choose no other shaft. And the flex, from what ive noticed helps with shot speed. well, if your a dpole that can shoot.

I don't play defense but I have had a few poles bent or snapped over my shoulder and back. Personally, I would shy away from purchasing any shaft that is without a warranty- I'm informed that Warrior doesn't have warranties on any of their titanium shafts.

As much as it pains me to agree with Tom-he speaks the absolute truth in his post. I worked in the lax biz for close to five years and would have to agree completely with his ananysis.

F15?-I used one once and bent it within five minutes (although it was a pretty ruthless check). But I will agree $45 is much more affordable that those titaniums. If you can get your hands on one-the Euro lax poles were really stout and had an exceptional price.

Me? I like layin' the wood. There's just something about the THWACK, followed by a grunt. Red Devil Lacrosse on eBay has some good ones.

The best way to save money on shafts is learn how to play the game and stop being a hack. There is a big difference between being aggressive and "Dude, I totally broke my stick over that guy's head".

I'm testing a Serpent titanium. Feels like my original warrior titanium (purchased over a decade ago) which is still in great condition.

I'm excited to see it's reliability - initially very impressive.

nice, ill have to go try that one out. I am due for a new stick. But i have to agree with the earlier guy, the best way to keep your stick, um.....not broken is to learn to check properly. Its hard to break a stick when your all over their gloves. However, helmets are proving to be great foes for long lasting d shafts.

I stick with the debeer titanium triax. I had some warrior titan classics that bent or broke, and i had a brine that did the same thing. I have used two titanium triax shafts and they both held up exceedingly well. One broke after about two seasons of good use, and the other one is currently holding strong. they are a bit costlier than some of the other models, but well worth the added cash. you dont break them as often, so you dont have to buy new ones.

I LOVE the new Warrior Dolomite. Its by far the best shaft ive ever had. its light and super durable. I was out with my little bro who had my old F-15 from like 94 (the prime years of lax shafts), and with one check i snapped his shaft clean in half. Not to mention the electric blue looks pretty fly. A definate great add on after snapping my old sunfaded barbie pink krypto alloy. Im kinda looking forward to the match up against my buddies scandium premium. But if anyone is looking for a new shaft the dolomite is the way to go, i have heard nothing but great comments about it.

I had a Gait DB803, I really regret cutting it down a few inches. I probably would still be using it today. Contemplating getting another one...I liked that stick a lot. A few of my fellow D-poles in high school rocked an F55, it was heavy but the grip was great and it just felt like you were swinging around a big lead pipe. Felt indestructable. What a great feeling.
