The tie-in with either the high school playoffs/invitational tourney, etc. is a great idea for purposes of trying to put more bodies in the seats. If you are going to go this route, you may want to start contacting the high school league commissioners right away as, generally, it takes a lot of lead time to set something like this set up.

Sonny, I dont know where you get your facts from...but lacrosse and beer go together like strawberries and gravy. This issue was discussed at the selc alumni tourney this summer over tea and herbs under the tree.

Any way we can rent or have available for rent those cool mist fans in case we have weather like we did in the first game last year (100+ degree weather). You know, like the ones they have on sidelines for football games?

That's a great idea. Have the local "youthful" radio station show up...I just graduated and I feel old for having said that. Having a radio truck there broadcasting, with a booth and stuff is always a good time. Which would possibly bring in bands. Im sure Kinkymen and the Texas Jewboys or whatever that band was called would show up.

Apparently it is pretty expensive to get a radio truck to show up at your event. They aren't really sponsoring it, you are paying them for coverage. It is certainly something to look into though.

On the web front, is it possible to get internet access at the site with enough bandwith for uploading live internet radio? I think hardware wise this would be pretty easy, connection wise it would rely on the ISP providing that much access.

Online radio (internet only) broadcast has potential. I'm exploring doing some live podcasts/broadcasts from Dallas next May and I'm currently considering our options.

I've quickly learned one thing about broadcasting - Preparation is key. It isn't something where you just flip on the microphone. The guys that do the BYU broadcasts are very close to the Coach Jason Lamb & the entire BYU program. So those guys have a great start on their broadcast. Getting handed a team roster (names, jersey numbers) 5 minutes before faceoff makes a decent sounding broadcast very difficult.

We are already talking to the radio people. If we come up with enough to cover the costs, we will do it. Not unreasonable at all for a road show.

Hey man.....no shame in that game. Both you and PBS do an outstanding job. My 2007 Renew is coming!

At the NCAA finals every year there are sponsor tents with some activities going on. Lax World always has a solid party in the parking lot, as do others. Maybe even some activities area. Interactive games for the little and big kids. Raffles can sometimes be an issue at the state and university level.

I've only seen select Texas teams play at different summer camps, team tournments and recruiting events. One thing that is in the back of my mind is the level of play compared to the high school level.

what about a sponsered tail-gaiting event. we had plenty of parking lot space last year if i remember correctly (which i very well may not).

having a band would be awesome. maybe we should rent a sweet foam machine, and have a Wet Lax-Tshirt Contest, who wouldnt have a good time with that?

any possibility that we could coordinate w/ another event. For example, if we could partnet w/ a bar-b-q cook-off that would be incredible. Then that would present the possibility of splitting all advertising costs plus it would attract a larger crowd. There has to be some other event (non-sporting) that we could partner with. it would attract larger groups for both.

That's a great idea norway. Id go to an underwater basket weaving tourny if there was a bbq competition going on. Actually can you please do a bbq/chili cook off...Im literally beggin you.
