Those of us who knew Chris are pleased to finally see some progress in this matter. Steve and Jan have been tireless in their quest for answers over the past 4 years. I'll keep everyone updated via this thread as information becomes available.

My question is this. How long have they had this "individual" in custody for before they made this announcement. Not to take away for the news of it being ruled a homicide, it just sounds like they have had an idea for sometime and not enough evidence....

I agree. I am very glad that this is finally moving forward. Everyone deserves to get some closure on this. Chris was a great kid and I still think about him a lot. He represented the best that this sport has to offer, and I don't say that about a lot of people. Best wishes to the family and everyone who knew him. It's hard to believe that this was already four years ago.

Here's a good story from the Startribune. (edit, whoops...Tex already posted that link!)

Four years later, Minneapolis police rule U student's death a homicide
Christopher Jenkins' family has been fighting to prove that his death was suspicious ever since he disappeared.

http://www.startribune.com/467/story/819695.html

Without Coach Larson, and the lacrosse team at Minnesota, this would most likely have remianed a mystery. I would like to thank the lacrosse community for the support over the last four years. A very wise man once told me we are all part of one big lacrosse team. Thank you one and all.

As someone who was lucky enough to know Chris, and his family, I can say that it is a relief to have the investigation handed off to the proper authorities.

No parent should ever have to conduct their own search, and subsequent investigation. The burden of tragedy should be shared by the community, which is exactly what the MPD failed to do until Cheif Dolan took over.

There is a press conference scheduled for Monday, more information is not likely to be provided until that time.

I am not sure there will ever be closure, because we have all been changed by this expereince. Changed in ways far too numerous and subtle to understand, much less explain.

I do believe that we are moving toward justice for Chris and his family.

Rest peacefully my brother, in us, you will live forever.

I understand there was a news conference at 4:15 Central time in which they were to release more information. Anyone get a chance to hear this or view a recording? I haven't found a link of yet.

Steve, Jan And Sara Jenkins will appear on CBS's Early Show on Monday November 27th at 6:30ish (that's in the am for all you night owls).

Probably a good chance to get the straight scoop about the MPD investigation from the source.
