3. He obviously did something wrong to be asked to leave and subsequently arrested. And after that... he continued to be very disruptive in a public place.

Lets say he did something terrible, for instance he shook a baby in the library.... Once he was in custody, is it okay to use a taser on the baby shaker if he's being loud & disruptive? Is the guy going limp not standing up in need of a 2+ taser shots?

I only see that as hurting the situation... If they hog tied hm & dragged him downstairs it would have been over in 2 minutes, not 7 & the crowd wouldn't have gathered. I wonder if the officers are standing by their actions? Anyone know?

I agree with what Kyle said. Plus, Sonny, I think most of use would be maybe a little disruptive after getting tased for pretty much nothing.

First off this is a COLLEGE LIBRARY COMPUTER LAB, and the kid didnt have his ID on him... HOLY CRAP THIS IS FAR FROM A CRIME. Honestly, its campus police, I would be SO pissed off if they kicked me out of MY SCHOOL'S library because I didnt have my ID on me.

WHY WOULD SOMEONE EVER TASER AN UNARMED UCLA STUDENT IN THE UCLA LIBRARY? I mean I guess you can argue that he was a potential threat to officers (YEAH RIGHT).

That angry mob of students didnt display any violent behaviors in that video. If I saw my campus police doing some BS like that I would have been much more confrontational than those students, not that they didnt act appropriately around such bone-headed behavior.

I honestly can't believe this happened. Its so stupid, and well yeah the kid shouldnt have been so loud and hysterical, but couldnt there have been some solution. I mean it is a computer lab, couldnt the dude just log in to prove he was a student? Or is a "Bruincard" something more complicated than a student ID?

This is totally unacceptable behavior for a CAMPUS SECURITY detail. That kid should sue. Hes going to be embarassed of his actions in the video when they show it in court, but there is absolutely no reason to taser a harmless angry, assumed nerdy, college kid in a LIBRARY of all places.

Is it too much to ask for a student to bring his ID with him to the library, resect the library staff, and respect law enforcement officers? Are kids these days so disrespectful that they have to fight every authority figure? I remember when I used to do that...I was 8. This kid acted in a most pathetic manner but I really liked that he brought up the Patriot Act, very classy and a heck of a way to take responisbility for his own actions. Gosh, he must be so oppressed.

The sad thing is that he probably will sue and his parents will tell him what a victim he was and how it was all so terribly unfair and he will probably win. Never mind that he was breaking the rules and causing a disturbance. Just another victim of this horrible police state we live in where everyone's freedoms are trampled upon on a daily basis. Like others have said, he should be thankful that we live in a time of tasing and not the old days of good old fashioned punk stomping.

I guess a better solution would be a nation without laws and police where we all live by our own rules and rely on the goodwill of our neighbors to keep us safe. And there will be rivers made of chocolate and houses made of doughnuts with unicorns and elves prancing along the streets. Cats and dogs would happily coexist and we could call our new country Candyland and we will all live happily ever after. Geesh.

Haha. Im sure with every taze the officers were thinking, "Man...thank god for the Patriot Act". It was like Tiananmen Square meets Kent State in a library...fires, tanks, oppression, etc. This country (cue song "Hail to the Chief") was founded on the beliefs that no man, should have to leave a college library if they cant prove they are a student there...(continue song)...this is what Herbie Hancock believed when he signed that paper......

We've all slimmed down into arguing the same points... The kid was acting like a child, & we all wish it was the 50's & we could give him a code red. The cops went overboard & made the situation 10 times worse than it needed to be. Quite frankly, if it was another day, that same altercation could have been non-existent.
